Chisholm slows trot after ‘overrated’ chants at Progressive

New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. deliberately took his time rounding the bases after hitting a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning of Tuesday’s 3-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians. Chisholm said his trot was “really for the fans” at Progressive Field after some directed “overrated” chants at him during the game, according to Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News. “I love it, kind of,” Chisholm said postgame. “I feel like that was the loudest chants all day we heard,
so I think it was great.” Rookie outfielder Spencer Jones also hit his first career homer, a 443-foot blast, in the victory. “That was sick,” Chisholm added. “Being on base, I thought it was Aaron Judge hitting when he hit that ball. It blasted off the bat, I’m not gonna lie.” New York will look to complete the three-game sweep Wednesday.

Overrated chants?? So basically the fans were mad he did good lol
I swear baseball fans will boo anything. Then they act surprised when a player actually leans into it.
Wait so he slowed down to “do it for the fans” because they said overrated?? That’s like… the opposite of what you’d think. Also Progressive Field sounds like a car insurance commercial so idk
The 443-foot homer is the wild part to me. Like yeah okay overrated chants, but Spencer Jones doing that is probably way bigger news. And didn’t they say Aaron Judge was hitting off and on? I get lost when they mention other guys names.
