This November, the AVENGERS name returns with a familiar punch and a new kind of anger. Superstar creators Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto reunite to launch a trailblazing new run of AVENGERS!. an ongoing series that spins out of Avengers: Armageddon. the five-issue limited series by Zdarsky. Delio Diaz and Frank Alpizar launching next week.
The premise is blunt: after the events of Avengers: Armageddon, Earth itself needs to be avenged. In the new ongoing series. a lineup of heroes—part legendary Avengers. part proven mainstays. and part wildcard newcomers—assembles to protect a broken world that. the story suggests. has more reason than ever not to trust them.
The roster that kicks off “Earth’s Mightiest Survivors” is already set, at least in spirit and intent. Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain Marvel, Daredevil, and Luke Cage join together as the team unites to avenge the Marvel Universe. An all-new hero is also slated for an explosive debut soon.
For Zdarsky, the assignment comes with a specific kind of creative spark—one lit by what happens in Armageddon. “It’s obviously a massive honor getting to write the world’s greatest super hero team!. And after what happens in Avengers: Armageddon. this lineup is angry as hell and ready to avenge.” He frames the book as a place where the Avengers should carry the Marvel Universe forward: “AVENGERS is a book that should lead the Marvel Universe. where big things happen and surprises keep hitting. ” he says. “That’s what Marco and I are doing with every issue and I can’t wait for people to fall in love with these gorgeous pages.”.
Checchetto’s return lands with the same sense of reunion and momentum. “Here we go again. Chip and I, assembled. We had a blast on Daredevil. and since wrapping up Ultimate Spider-Man. I’m thrilled there was an opportunity to do something new with him. It’s in moments like these where Chip’s utter madness comes through. and the result is right before your eyes.” He’s especially drawn to the chemistry the lineup will create: “I love this team. It’s going to be great to see these characters interact with one another and see how they untangle themselves from the situations we’re going to throw them into.”.
Even the behind-the-scenes excitement reads like a promise of scale. Editor Wil Moss says Chip and Marco have aimed for a careful blend of spectacle and character work: “Chip and Marco have come up with SUCH an exciting direction for this new volume of AVENGERS. striking just the right balance of quality AND spectacle. of pitch-perfect characterization AND shocking takes. of a sense of legacy AND a true trailblazing spirit. Chip and Marco’s Avengers is going to be the heart of the Marvel Universe going forward—trust me. you won’t want to miss a beat. Just wait till you learn the full roster…”.
The early path into this new era runs through a specific date. The formation of Earth’s Mightiest Survivors begins next week with Avengers: Armageddon #1, on sale June 10. From there. AVENGERS #1 becomes the next Marvel Comics launch available in True Believers Blind Bags. each containing an exclusive variant cover not available for regular ordering—covering not just standard surprises. but one-of-a-kind. hand drawn sketch covers by surprise contributors.
AVENGERS #1 is written by CHIP ZDARSKY, with art and cover by MARCO CHECCHETTO and a variant cover by CHIP ZDARSKY. It will be available on 11/4.
Between Armageddon’s rewritten world order and a new team built around characters who feel both familiar and strained. the story’s tension is clear: the Avengers are no longer simply saving the day. They’re being asked—by Earth. by circumstance. by the transformed universe—to earn trust in a world that has stopped expecting it. And with the roster already assembled. even before the “all-new hero” arrives. the only real question is how hard the team will have to prove it.
For now, it’s a calendar countdown—June 10 for Avengers: Armageddon #1, then 11/4 for AVENGERS #1—and a string of forthcoming announcements: more AVENGERS #1 announcements in the coming weeks, including additional story information, variant cover reveals, and more.

Avengers… again? Earth needs to be avenged?? lol what does that even mean.
So wait, Spider-Man and Wolverine are on the same team like nothing happened? Sounds like Marvel just hit restart. Also “Earth itself needs to be avenged” feels like some weird political metaphor or I’m missing it.
I read “Avengers: Armageddon” and figured the Avengers are done/destroyed for good, so this is like a continuation? But it’s “Earth’s Mightiest Survivors” so I guess Earth gets punished? Not sure if the lineup is new or just the same people shuffled around.
Chip Zdarsky wrote it so it’s probably gonna be fire, but I’m still confused about the “Earth itself needs to be avenged” thing. Like is Earth a villain now? Also they said Luke Cage is in it and I’m like ok cool but where was he in Armageddon then? Maybe they’re bringing him back because of the new world order??
