A split-second of danger and a burst of motion were captured on camera Tuesday (June 2) in Birmingham, England—right in the middle of Charlie Heaton’s new Peaky Blinders spinoff.
The actor. set to star as Charles Shelby. appears in fresh set photos filming action scenes as he tries to save a woman played by Lucy Karczewski. Heaton’s character is Charles Shelby. the son of Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby. and the production has been building its world in and around Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham.
The series itself is set “a decade after World War Two,” when “the race to rebuild Birmingham becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions.” In this new chapter, the pitch is clear: the city is full of “unprecedented opportunity and jeopardy.”
Charles Shelby’s life is supposed to look different now. The synopsis says he has “fought a violent war. much of it behind enemy lines. ” and is trying to embrace normality. But the story also makes the fracture unavoidable—he “hasn’t seen his half-brother Duke (Bell) – in years. ” after Charles severed ties to both the Peaky Blinders gang and the hedonistic Shelby lifestyle.
The bigger question is whether he can actually step away from the bloodline. “But can you ever escape your own blood?” the synopsis asks, setting the tone for a family feud that keeps dragging old choices back into the present.
Heaton isn’t alone in the cast. Jamie Bell also stars as Duke, and Jessica Brown Findlay and Lashana Lynch are set to join the series.
The show will run for six episodes, each 60 minutes long. It will premiere on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the UK, and on Netflix in the rest of the world.
Filming is already underway, and the project isn’t stopping at a first season. A second series is in the works too, with Peaky Blinders’ original star Cillian Murphy serving as an executive producer on both.

Peaky Blinders is back?? Can’t wait, Birmingham always looks so gritty on TV.
Wait so Charlie Heaton is playing Tommy’s son but also it’s a decade after WWII? So like… Tommy is dead or something? I didn’t watch all of it so I’m confused lol.
I saw the “action scenes” photo and it looks like they’re doing too much. Also the part about him “trying to embrace normality” sounds like PR talk, because it’s Peaky Blinders, they never let anyone chill.
So Netflix gets it everywhere else but BBC iPlayer/BBC One gets it first, right? Typical. Also Charles Shelby saving a woman?? That sounds like a random side plot, I’m more worried they’re gonna ruin the whole bloodline/family feud thing with CGI or something.
