Charli XCX Releases ‘Music, Fashion, Film’ B-Sides – Our Culture

Charli XCX has released Music, Fashion, Film (B-sides Edition) exclusively on iTunes, just three days after the arrival of the original album. It includes three tracks that were previously available on the pop star’s @b.sides alt-account on Instagram: ‘I Keep on Thinking Bout You Every Single Day and Night’, ‘Playboy Bunny’, and ‘If You Take Away the Music Then What Has She Got?’. Check it out below.
“I made b sides for each of the songs released ahead of Music, Fashion, Film because it felt natural to pair each songs with a fitting counterpart – something that’s adjacent to the album but not entirely part of it,” Charli wrote on Instagram. “traditionally, b sides often become fan favorites… and I guess in the case of some of the b sides for this album, that has proven to be true. I felt adamant I wouldn’t put them on streaming because it sort of felt counter intuitive to the whole ethos of those songs, but I know you all really wanted them so I’ve begrudgingly put them on itunes lol. you can call me a hypocrite, I don’t mind 😉 love you all and I hope you enjoy these special songs in ur ears xx”
So she’s mad at streaming but then puts it on iTunes like… ok lol
I saw the headline and thought it was like actual fashion and film stuff, not just songs. The “counter intuitive” line makes my head spin. Also who even uses iTunes anymore?
Wait, so the “b-sides” were on Instagram first? That’s kind of weird like baiting fans then releasing it 3 days later. I don’t get why she wouldn’t put them on streaming if people already heard them. Sounds like she just wanted attention honestly.
This is gonna be one of those things where everyone is like “fan favorites” and then I try it and it’s just ok. The names are like super extra too, like “If You Take Away the Music Then What Has She Got?” okay dramatic. I’ll still probably check it though, just because it’s Charli.
