BOSTON — The Blue Jays didn’t waste time turning Fenway noise into momentum.

On Tuesday night, June 16, 2026, Toronto jumped ahead with power and stayed there. Davis Schneider and Andrés Giménez hit back-to-back home runs, Dylan Cease delivered five shutout innings, and the Blue Jays beat the Boston Red Sox 6-1.

Schneider got it started by clearing the Green Monster with a drive off rookie Payton Tolle (3-4), putting Toronto ahead in the fifth. Giménez followed immediately with a shot that made it 3-0 — the first time the Blue Jays have had back-to-back home runs this season.

The scoring didn’t slow down. Schneider added an RBI double in the sixth inning, and George Springer extended Toronto’s lead with a sacrifice fly in the third before going deep again in the ninth. Springer finished with a two-run homer — his 300th career — and three RBI.

Cease (4-3) scattered four hits and worked through trouble with control, issuing four walks while striking out seven. When he left the game, Louis Varland took over for four outs and earned his 13th save.

Boston managed to spoil the shutout in the eighth. Jarren Duran led off the inning with his 12th home run. Connor Wong had two hits and two stolen bases for the Red Sox, but Boston stranded 13 runners overall and went 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

Tolle took the loss after allowing three runs and four hits in five innings. The left-hander struck out six and walked two.

There was also a welcome jolt for Toronto fans: slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. returned to the lineup after missing two games with back tightness.

And off the field, the stands at Fenway carried another kind of chant. For the second consecutive game at Fenway Park, the Tartan Army full of Scotland soccer fans waved flags and broke into chants. Scotland’s next World Cup match is Friday against Morocco in Massachusetts.

The series continues on Wednesday night with Toronto RHP Max Scherzer (1-4, 10.23 ERA) facing the Red Sox’ LHP Jake Bennett (1-2, 5.28).
