Carabao Cup second-round draw: Chelsea host League One Luton, Tottenham handed London derby and Fulham welcome neighbours AFC Wimbledon
Five-time winners Chelsea have been handed a home tie against League One side Luton Town in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
New manager Xabi Alonso will begin the club’s bid to win the competition for the first time since 2015 later this month.
Eleven Premier League clubs have entered at the second-round stage, with those involved in European competition this season receiving a bye to the third round.
Tottenham, who avoided relegation on the final day of last season, have also been handed a home draw and will face Championship side Charlton Athletic.
Fulham host League One outfit AFC Wimbledon, Brentford face a potentially tricky trip to Championship side Birmingham City, while Ipswich Town welcome Leicester City.
Elsewhere in the southern section, West Ham United, who beat Portsmouth in Saturday’s first round, travel to Championship club Southampton.

In the northern section, the standout tie sees last season’s Europa League semi-finalists Nottingham Forest host fellow Premier League side Leeds United, while top-flight newcomers Hull City travel to Stoke City.
New Newcastle head coach Matthias Jaissle has been given a home fixture against West Bromwich Albion, while Everton manager David Moyes is set for a return to Preston North End, where he spent time as both a player and manager.
Preston played their opening group-stage match against Huddersfield Town at Goodison Park while work continues on a £1.5 million redevelopment of the Deepdale pitch. However, a fairytale return to their former ground for Everton appears unlikely. Preston have assured supporters that Deepdale will be ready for their first home league fixture of the season on 22 August.
The second-round ties are scheduled to be played during the week commencing 26 August.
