Car drives into moving commuter rail train in Concord

No serious injuries were reported.

A driver in Concord accidentally hit the gas pedal at the worst possible time on Monday, driving directly into the side of a passing commuter rail train.

According to the MBTA Police, a woman in a 2019 Mazda was on Sudbury Street when she mistakenly hit the gas while at the railroad crossing between Grant and Thoreau streets, and drove into the side of a moving train.

There were no serious injuries, according to the MBTA Police, although the car showed signs of significant damage, and WCVB reported that the driver was taken to a nearby hospital. All safety/warning equipment was functioning properly, according to MBTA Police.

The 60 passengers on the Fitchburg Line train were all evacuated and put on another train, WCVB reported.
