Canadian QB Tre Ford to start for Tiger-Cats against Argonauts

Canadian Tre Ford will be Hamilton’s starting quarterback when the Tiger-Cats visit the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday.
Ford, of Niagara Falls, was listed as Hamilton’s starter on its depth chart released Friday.
Ford came off the bench to replace injured starter Harrison Frost and rally Hamilton to a 26-19 home win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders last week.
Ford completed 13 of 17 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown while adding 38 yards rushing.
Ford is one of three starters Hamilton has used since veteran Bo Levi Mitchell suffered an ankle injury in a 14-3 home loss to Winnipeg on July 5, the other being Jake Dolegala.
Hamilton edged Toronto 24-23 at Hamilton Stadium on July 18, Ford’s first start as a Ticat. Ford completed 21 of 27 passes for 218 yards with a touchdown and an interception while rushing 10 times for 109 yards.
Hamilton captured the win when Argos kicker Lirim Hajrullahu missed a 31-yard field goal on the game’s final play after earlier missing a convert.
With a win, the Ticats (4-6) would clinch the season series with the Argos (4-5). The two teams will square off again Sept. 7 in the annual Labour Day contest at Hamilton Stadium.
