Min Woo Lee shoots 62 at Tour Championship, talks Presidents Cup prep
Min Woo Lee opened his Tour Championship week with a 62 and the lead at East Lake in the PGA Tour season finale.
Cameron Young is on the cusp of pulling off an improbable worst-to-first turnaround on the 2026 Tour Championship leaderboard.
Young entered Round 2 at the PGA Tour’s season-ending event on Friday, Aug. 28, sitting in last place at even par. Eleven holes later, he was alone in second place and one shot off the lead an hour before overnight leader Min Woo Lee was set to tee off.
Young, ranked No. 3 in the world golf rankings, had seven birdies over his opening 11 holes of Round 2. He did not miss a fairway or a green in regulation during the sequence. Young’s run ended with a bogey on No. 12 after hitting his approach at the par 4 into a bunker.
The 29-year-old went from ranking last in the field in strokes gained on approach shots in Round 1 to leading the category during the early stages of Round 2. He also gained nearly three strokes on the field with his putting to start Round 2.
Young is playing alone after J.J. Spaun withdrew from the Tour Championship due to a shoulder injury after five holes on Thursday. Lee played solo over the final 13 holes when he produced a strong Round 1 performance.
Young tied a course record when he shot a 9-under 61 at the Rocket Classic in July and he shot an 11-under 59 at the Travelers Championship in 2024. He won The Players Championship and Cadillac Championship earlier this season.
The course record at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta is a 10-under 60.
Young was the only golfer over par until he birdied No. 16 on Thursday after bogeys on three of his first five holes of the tournament. Despite driving the ball longer on average than anyone else in Round 1, he finished among the worst in the field in greens in regulation. He had been in a late-season swoon after finishing outside the top-35 in his previous three starts leading into the Tour Championship.
