BTS brought their 2026 Arirang World Tour to Baltimore, and the Army showed up strong for a jaw-dropping show.
As a child, I spent portions of most summers in Baltimore, Maryland, where BTS brought their 2026 Arirang World Tour on Monday, Aug. 10, for the first of two shows in Charm City. Of course, things were a lot different back then.
In those days, it wasn’t cool to like K-pop, much less be Korean. More than enough looks and comments were thrown my way in the miles surrounding the concert’s venue, M&T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens.
That said, on Monday night, it was a completely different story. Seventy thousand fans packed into M&T Bank Stadium, most of them with light sticks in hand, and transformed the Ravens’ home, which is usually dead come mid-January, into a rave.
The only time people sat during BTS’s Arirang World Tour performance was during the brief intermissions between sets. Once the music began or one of the seven members began their walk onto the stage, everyone was on their feet, singing every word and managing to top the stadium’s speakers at times.
As I sat there, I kept thinking to myself, “This has to be the closest thing to The Beatles’ arrival in 1964 and the British Invasion, right?”
The seven members of BTS, who all have very strong fan bases, had the audience eating out of their hands. Even if girls weren’t passing out, every wink or hair flip generated a raucous response as the screaming girls fawned over their favorite member.
From the huge stage and fireworks to the elaborate dance routines, BTS’ Arirang World Tour is proof that the Korean Invasion is not a fad. The BTS Army is so strong that it may even top Swifties.
The term “Arirang” symbolizes many things, among them being separation. The Arirang World Tour is BTS’ first since their hiatus due to the members fulfilling their mandatory military service. They haven’t missed a beat, and it’s clear that they’re happy to be back on stage together.
BTS’ Arirang World Tour 2026 Baltimore show review
The stage was set as traditional Korean music played as fans made their way to their seats. They wouldn’t be seated long, as the anticipation was palpable.
For some fans at M&T Bank Stadium, it was their first time seeing BTS. Others had seen them four times or more. And yet, everyone was excited.
As BTS made their way to the massive stage — which rivals that of U2’s iconic 360 Tour — the group’s Arirang logo popped up on the screen that served as a roof for the group. It felt very cinematic, almost as if we were watching the opening credits of their movie.
Then, they kicked into “Hooligan,” an absolute bop from Arirang. If the crowd’s screams weren’t loud enough, imagine 70,000 people doing Jung Kook’s manic laugh in unison.
This began a two-hour marathon in which the rabid crowd sang every song word-for-word (shouting most of the lyrics). It’s remarkable, as a lot of the K-pop group’s songs are sung at a rapid-fire pace. And yet, the fans didn’t miss a beat.
It was then a sprint to the end of the first act, which included a really cool performance of “Swim.” The center of their stage featured an elevating circular platform. As the seven members of BTS rose up, the backing dancers — who deserve a shoutout for their performance, from running wind sprints with flags to dancing the intricate choreography — surrounded them with tapestry, moving to the beat and creating the illusion of waves.
“Fake Love” preceded “Swim,” and was another standout. The first act concluded with “Merry Go Round,” which once again utilized the tapestry from “Swim.” The backing performers surrounded BTS as they walked in circles.
Act II
Somehow, the second act only raised the roof further, kicking off with “2.0,” a song backed by an infectious trap beat. It certainly brings BTS back to their hip-hop roots. This is when the group’s synchrony is at its best. All seven guys are working in unison, and yet, they gave each other a moment to stand out, with Jimin receiving the loudest pops of the night.
The crowd went bananas for “MIC Drop,” which saw the light sticks change from green to red to golden yellow. It genuinely felt like M&T Bank Stadium was shaking at this point.
A few songs later, BTS fittingly played “Fire.” The show included a lot of flames, but “Fire” also describes how on fire the group was throughout the night.
This was the group’s first concert in Baltimore, and they went all out. “Fire” concluded with a really cool sing-along moment as BTS led a hundred-yard march around the floor of the stadium. Backing performers were in tow, waving flags, some of which lit up.
A hit-filled conclusion
BTS made their way to the stage for the third and final act of the show. It began with “Come Over,” a bonus track from the deluxe edition of Arirang. Relatively speaking, it is one of the chiller songs performed. The crowd swayed their arms as the light sticks were illuminated in Ravens’ purple.
They then played two of their biggest songs to date: “Butter” and “Dynamite.” Even if you’ve heard the songs on the radio, they’re different beasts live, especially the latter.
“Dynamite” was when the personalities of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook really shined. During a brief break in the song, some of them did a dance break before hitting the ambitious key change, which they nailed almost two hours into their show.
The show concluded with two surprise songs: the tour debut of “Telepathy” and “Boy in Luv,” and the one-two punch of “Please” and “Into the Sun.”
The final word
Simply put, BTS might be the biggest artist in the world. Coldplay and U2 have put on similar spectacles with their Music of the Spheres and 360 tours, respectively, but BTS might be on track to surpass those. The Arirang World Tour is a joyous concert that delivers euphoria like Coldplay and U2 have for years.
This was the group’s first concert in Baltimore, and they put the charm in Charm City with the electric show. BTS reaches a scope that probably hasn’t been touched since The Beatles and Michael Jackson.
It might sound hyperbolic, but the group is something special. Everything felt intentional. Even with the giant stage, dance numbers, and pyro show, BTS never felt lost in the grandiose scale of their Arirang World Tour show.
The Arirang World Tour has brought the band back together. It has been a long four years since BTS’ last tour, and they’re taking it all in. The biggest tell that BTS missed each other and performing for their fans was that at the end of every song, whether the members split off into the various catwalks that stemmed from the main stage or performed on the circular centerpiece, they ended up together.
BTS has brought pride to this Korean-American, who, at one time, felt it was uncool to be Korean. The idea of non-Koreans was unfathomable for years. Now, BTS, touring behind Arirang, is bringing people together to celebrate their heritage. For someone like myself, it doesn’t get cooler than that.
