Brunson preaches 0-0 focus after Knicks go 2-0

Brunson 0-0 – Jalen Brunson insisted the New York Knicks’ mindset must stay “0-0” even after they took a 2-0 lead in the 2026 NBA Finals with a road win over the San Antonio Spurs. Despite an off-night shooting, Brunson drove key moments and helped New York hold on after ra

Jalen Brunson walked into the noise of a 2-0 Finals lead knowing exactly what could tempt a team to relax. He didn’t want it to happen.

After the New York Knicks took control Friday night against the San Antonio Spurs—winning 105-95 in Game 2 to move the series to 2-0—Brunson pushed back on the idea that momentum should change how they show up next. New York already had a 1-0 lead heading into the final after beating San Antonio in Game 1. and going up 2-0 brought them closer to the franchise’s first title since 1973. For Brunson, that proximity wasn’t permission to coast.

“Our mindset was 0-0, not being up 1-0. Even with what the series is now, next game, the mindset has to be 0-0 again. It’s how it has to be. You can’t be comfortable, you can’t be satisfied with anything,” Brunson said after the win.

The message landed because the game itself demanded discipline. The Knicks had to claw back from an early deficit before they took control in the second half. San Antonio fought hard down the stretch and pushed in the final seconds. but New York made the necessary stops to escape with the road victory.

Brunson’s shooting wasn’t falling the way he would have liked, yet he still tilted the swing moments that decide a series. He delivered a close-to-everything clutch performance—finishing with 20 points, six assists, five rebounds, and five steals.

New York spread the scoring through multiple contributors. Karl-Anthony Towns led the team with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Mikal Bridges added 20 points and six assists, while OG Anunoby put up 17 points and four rebounds. Landry Shamet chipped in 13 points off the bench.

With the series now sitting at 2-0, the Knicks are two wins away from winning it all—and Brunson made it clear they’re treating that as work, not worship. The next test comes immediately.

New York will try to chase a 3-0 series lead when they return home to host Game 3 against the Spurs. The contest starts on June 8 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
