Browns news: Shedeur Sanders reacts to Deion visiting training camp

Training camp in Berea got a little more “Prime” this week. Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders pulled up to the Cleveland Browns’ facility to check in on his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and spent some quality time chopping it up with head coach Todd Monken.
“It was really cool. Deion Sanders, you kidding me? Forget that it’s Shedeur’s dad,” Monken told reporters. “I mean, first of all, he did an unbelievable job with Shedeur, great kid. And obviously an elite football player, hell, baseball player. And then as a coach, I mean, wow.”

The meetup is notable considering the chatter earlier this offseason. Back in May, Coach Prime mentioned on a YouTube show that he wanted to sit down with Monken to share exactly what makes his son tick.
Monken added that Deion’s words merely confirmed what the coaching staff has already seen from the 24-year-old on the practice field.
Right now, Shedeur is locked in a battle with veteran Deshaun Watson for the starting job ahead of the 2026 season. As a fifth-round rookie last year, Shedeur made seven starts, going 3-4. Monken has been alternating first-team reps between the two QBs as the competition heats up.
When asked about his dad’s visit, Shedeur kept it strictly business.
“It was good, I was overall focused every day about like practice so nothing else really matters whenever I’m on the field,” Shedeur said. “But whenever I’m off the field like of course I’m excited to see my dad… Yeah, but nothing matters when you’re between the lines.”

The 2nd-year QB is locked in on performing in training camp and is trying not to focus too much on what happens outside of it. Shedeur and the Browns will get their first live test in the preseason on Aug. 15 against the Chicago Bears.
