Browns make shocking QB pick in ClutchPoints’ 2027 NFL Mock Draft

ClutchPoints has mocked the Cleveland Browns to take another QB in the 2027 draft, and it’s not who you might think.
The Cleveland Browns recently made headlines when head coach Todd Monken announced that Shedeur Sanders would be benched this season in favor of Deshaun Watson, who will assume the starting quarterback position. The move angered fans, who were hoping that the younger Sanders would get another shot to prove himself, despite his struggles this past season.
The Browns aren’t expected to be very competitive this year, and with this being the case, they could very well be looking at another premium draft pick in 2027, where selecting a quarterback will certainly be an option.
Recently, Tim Crean of ClutchPoints projected the Browns to select quarterback Drew Mestemaker out of Oklahoma State with the number four pick next year in a mock draft.
“After a massive year at North Texas, Drew Mestemaker is taking his talents to the big leagues in college football. And if he has another season where he slings it all over the yard, but this time does it in the Big 12, the NFL will come calling next. So, putting him here at N. 4 to Cleveland is a prediction that a big season is coming,” noted Crean.
Not any pundits have Mestemaker going this high in their mock drafts, so it would certainly be a big swing for Cleveland at this spot, unless Mestemaker follows through and indeed has a huge season with Oklahoma State this year.
The Browns are currently in somewhat of a quarterback jail, with Watson having seemingly stalled out after his promising first few years with the Houston Texans, and Sanders not having many pro-level tools at his disposal to be excited about.
If the Browns do indeed end up with a top pick next year, it will be crucial for them to finally nail the choice and bring in a true building block.
