Browns’ Jared Verse makes ‘monumental’ Jadeveon Clowney recruiting pitch to help fill Myles Garrett void

The Cleveland Browns are fully in the NFL training camp swing of things this week as they prepare for the upcoming NFL season. The biggest story of the offseason for the Browns was their trade of Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams, which brought back young star Jared Verse in return.

Recently, rumblings have emerged that the Browns could be in line for a reunion with pass rusher Jadaveon Clowney, who is currently a free agent.

Now, Verse has made his pitch for Clowney to return to Cleveland.

“He’s one of the best rushers I ever watched. Having that dude in the room would be monumental to me,” he said, per Zac Jackson of The Athletic on X, formerly Twitter.

Meanwhile, Browns general manager Andrew Berry spoke on the team’s recent meeting with Clowney.

“Really good visit,” Berry said, per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “There are things that we still have to work through. Hopeful that we can add him to the team, but it’s still in balance.”

Clowney recorded double-digit sacks for the Browns during the 2021-22 season in Cleveland, and has continued to produce at a solid, if not elite, level for other teams since then.

Having the former college superstar back in the fray would help the Browns continue to fill the massive void left by Garrett, who broke the NFL sack record last year and now has made the Rams bona fide Super Bowl favorites heading into the upcoming season.

In any case, the Browns are slated to kick off their new season on September 13 with a road game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at 1:00 pm ET.
