Browns’ Denzel Ward sounds off on becoming partial Guardians owner

The Cleveland Browns are preparing for their first game of the 2026 NFL season. Denzel Ward and his teammates are hoping to prove a lot of the team’s doubters wrong on the field. Off the field, Ward has further cemented himself within the city’s sports scene.

Ward joined the ownership group of MLB’s Cleveland Guardians, the Guardians announced on Wednesday. He purchased a minority stake in the team. How large an ownership share he bought is unknown. On Wednesday, the Browns star explained his decision to become involved with the Guardians.

“I’m a Cleveland kid. I love Cleveland to death. I had the opportunity to be involved with the Cleveland community in different ways. This way, with the Guardians. It’s just a great opportunity, and I look forward to seeing what we can do,” Ward said, via ESPN Cleveland.

Ward is not the only NFL player to purchase a stake in ownership of the Guardians. Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce is also involved in the team’s ownership. He announced his involvement with the Guardians back in May.

Ward is one of the faces of this Browns roster. The superstar corner is at the beginning of a two-year, $62.2 million contract extension signed back in July. To this point, Ward has spent his entire NFL career in Cleveland.

The star corner has certainly established himself among Cleveland’s brightest stars on the field. However, he is seeking to make an impact on the city when he isn’t playing. His stake in the Guardians is a fantastic way to remain involved with the community when he is not giving opposing offenses nightmares.
