Brock Purdy Says 49ers Can Win Super Bowl, Nothing Guaranteed

Brock Purdy believes the 49ers are built to win it all in 2026, but he’s also blunt about the reality of the road ahead—one where even being healthy doesn’t automatically translate to the Lombardi Trophy.

The 49ers have been close before—four trips to the NFC title game and two Super Bowl appearances under Kyle Shanahan—but the Lombardi Trophy has never found its way into anyone’s hands. Last year’s playoff run ended earlier than the dream promises, with a divisional-round loss to the Seahawks.

Brock Purdy is starting the 2026 season with that familiar memory sitting in the background. Speaking during an appearance at the 2026 Dwight Clark Legacy Series event. the quarterback said the team is capable of going all the way again—while stressing that talent alone doesn’t carry you to the finish line.

“You guys have seen it in years past. NFC championship, getting to the Super Bowl, being right there. How 2023 ended with that taste in our mouth and not being able to finish,” Purdy said, via NBCSports Bay Area. “Obviously. we have what it takes to go all the way and win it. that’s when we’re at full strength and good to go. But even though we are at full strength and full health, that’s not guaranteed. That’s the cool thing about the guys we have in the locker room and organization: No one just sits there and says. ‘Oh. look at our roster and how beautiful it looks.’”.

He added that the goal isn’t just to be “right there” again—it’s to bring home the rings.

“Guys are ready to go. When it’s said and done, we want to come back like all these guys and have rings on our fingers and celebrate those key wins and moments with the history of 49ers. That’s what’s on our mind, so we got to do it.”

It’s a message shaped by what happened to them last season. The 49ers overcame a heavy list of injuries, including one to Purdy, and still managed to return to the postseason. That experience. Purdy’s comments suggest. doesn’t just fuel confidence—it sharpens the understanding that surviving the division. then the conference. then the league is never a straight line.

The road back to a Super Bowl isn’t only about having the pieces. It’s about having the right season run unfold around them. For Purdy, that’s the difference between thinking you can win—and believing it’s truly waiting for you.
