Britney Spears, 44, shared a rare Instagram photo on June 1 showing a sleek, straight hairstyle styled with celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton. The makeover lands amid ongoing legal fallout after her alleged DUI arrest in California’s Ventura County earlier
For Britney Spears, the morning lights weren’t the only thing that changed.
On Monday. June 1. the Grammy-winning pop star posted a rare candid photo on Instagram that showed a new look: her platinum blonde hair styled sleek and straight. Spears, 44, enlisted the help of Chris Appleton, the celebrity hairstylist best known for working with Kim Kardashian. In the post. Appleton stands beside her after the transformation as Spears playfully sticks her tongue out for the camera while holding a bundle of haircare tools.
Appleton captioned the image with a line that lands like a personal milestone. “As a kid growing up in England, Britney Spears was the soundtrack to so many moments,” he wrote. “Never in a million years did I think I’d one day be standing behind the chair (or in this case her standing behind mine. lol) styling her hair.”.
He added his own reflection on the collaboration, writing: “Some moments really do come full circle. She is not only an icon but one of the most genuinely kind and gentle souls I’ve ever met.”
The styling switch marks a shift from the wavy look Spears had been wearing in recent years. when she styled her platinum blonde mane in waves. The photo also arrives after Appleton and Spears have crossed paths more than once in the past year—seven months after Spears was spotted hanging out with Kim Kardashian and her sister. Khloé Kardashian.
This week’s makeover. though. sits alongside a separate set of headlines that have followed Spears since her alleged DUI arrest in California. Ventura County police arrested Spears following her early-morning stop and released her shortly after. The arrest came after authorities said they spotted her driving a black BMW 430i “erratically” at high speeds on the highway in Ventura County.
A California Highway Patrol spokesperson said on March 6 that Spears allegedly showed “signs of impairment” and submitted to a series of field sobriety tests. Spears was arrested March 4 outside of Los Angeles County.
Her case moved forward in court. Spears pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge on May 4 and received 12 months of summary probation. The outcome also included paying several fines and completing a three-month first offender DUI program.
Against that backdrop, Spears posted on May 9 about where her mindset has been headed. In the Instagram message. she wrote: “I’m so damn thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey… all a blessing in disguise. I still have to learn how to be kind to myself and the way I speak to myself… It’s a never-ending journey and sometimes I just stop. look up and say. wow God I think that was you. and smile on!!!!”.
The hairstyle reveal comes nearly two months after Spears voluntarily entered rehab treatment following her most recent arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence in California.

I swear she changes her hair more than I change my sheets.
Not gonna lie, the straight hair looks better than the wavy thing she’s been doing. Also Chris Appleton is everywhere lately, like he’s got a coupon.
Wait so this is after the DUI stuff? Like the article says “legal fallout” but she’s just posting glam selfies with a hairstylist, so does that mean it’s all cleared or something? I’m probably missing it but that’s what it sounds like.
Everybody’s like ‘icon’ and ‘kind soul’ but meanwhile there’s headlines about DUI… I don’t get how we can just move on to hair milestones like it’s no big deal. Also Chris Appleton styling Kim Kardashian’s hair for years, so now Britney’s doing it too? feels like same Hollywood circle. Idk, I just hope she’s actually doing okay and not using insta as a distraction or whatever.
