Brentford have stepped into the hunt for Cologne winger Said El Mala. adding their name to a transfer race that has already involved Chelsea and Brighton.. The 19-year-old. who is on Chelsea’s radar. is seen by Brighton as a top target and has been the most persistent in trying to secure a deal since the turn of the year.

The sticking point remains money.. Brighton have been unable to agree on the figures Cologne want. with the Bundesliga club still insisting on a valuation of £43.6 million for the player.. As that impasse continues, Brighton have begun looking at alternative options, including a possible move for Hoffenheim winger Bazoumana Toure.

Brentford’s approach is also fuelled by El Mala’s form.. On Saturday. the winger scored in Cologne’s clash at Bayern Munich. and Brentford checked on him again after that impact in Germany’s top match-up.. The clubs involved are now looking to open talks with the hope of gaining an early advantage over other suitors.

He is in contention to be named in Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann’s squad. which is due to be announced on Thursday.. With that announcement looming. Cologne’s valuation demand and the competing Premier League interest could converge at the same crucial moment in the transfer window.
