Brandon Walker dons helmet as Dockers manage concussions

Fremantle defender Brandon Walker emerged with new headgear at training on Monday, donning a helmet as he continues his recovery from multiple concussions this season. The Dockers are yet to reveal a return-to-play timeline for the 23-year-old, who has spent more than a month on the sidelines and remained listed as TBC on the club’s latest injury list as of June 2. The club’s cautious approach to the fleet-footed backman follows two head knocks across the span of two weeks while playing for Peel Thunder
in the WAFL earlier this year. Walker has not featured for the AFL side since round one, with soreness ruling him out of the round two clash with Melbourne. He has made five appearances for the Thunder but has not played at any level since May 9, when he sustained his latest concussion. Walker appeared in good spirits at Fremantle’s Cockburn training base on Monday, donning his new helmet as well as a long-sleeve version of the club’s Stealth jumper. The Dockers will wear the
dark kit against Geelong in a blockbuster Thursday night clash at Optus Stadium, which will be live and free on Seven and 7Plus. Peel also return to the WAFL fold this weekend, following a bye to align with the AFL side. The Thunder take on East Perth at Lane Group Stadium in Mandurah, with a chance to pinch top spot on the ladder from current leaders Claremont.

Glad he’s wearing a helmet I guess.
Wait so he’s not even playing still? Concussions already again this season is wild. Hopefully they don’t rush it just because it’s a Thursday night game.
Honestly I don’t get how a helmet fixes anything. Like isn’t the whole point it’s a brain injury not your skull? Also says he hasn’t played since round one but then mentions May 9… so like which one is it??
Dockers wearing the dark Stealth kit vs Geelong and he’s just in a helmet at training… sounds like they’re marketing it more than helping him. TBC lists confuse me too, because “as of June 2” is a whole different universe than now. I just think they should’ve known earlier if he was done for the season, or at least say return date instead of playing the waiting game.
