A new trailer for Paramount’s Heart of the Beast shows Brad Pitt and his rescue-dog companion Odin fighting for survival after a plane crash traps them in the brutal Alaskan wilderness. The film arrives in theaters Sept. 25.
A plane crash doesn’t give you time to think—at least not in the new trailer for Heart of the Beast.
Brad Pitt plays a former Special Forces officer who. alongside his combat dog Odin (played by rescue dog Uber). is trapped in the unforgiving Alaskan wilderness. The new footage makes the danger feel immediate: survival isn’t just about the elements. but the harsh terrain and other animals that turn every step into a gamble for both man and dog.
Paramount bills the film as “an intense adventure thriller that explores the unbreakable bond between a man and his best friend as they face their greatest battle yet,” and the trailer plays like exactly that—part rugged survival story, part relationship tested to the edge.
The movie’s timeline has its own kind of adventure. Cameron Alexander’s script appeared on 2017’s edition of the Black List of Hollywood’s best unproduced screenplays. It gained momentum in 2024 when director David Ayer signed on. and later that year Damien Chazelle—known for La La Land—joined as producer. The next year. Pitt came aboard with his production company Plan B. and by March they were filming in New Zealand. where Uber was also found.
Pitt’s calendar is about to get crowded again, too. He’s also set to star in David Fincher’s still-untitled project. which will debut in Imax theaters on Thanksgiving before arriving on Netflix for Christmas. Fincher’s film is a sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood—the movie that earned Pitt his first Academy Award for one of his performances. Pitt also produced both The Departed and 12 Years a Slave, which won the Oscars for Best Picture. Tarantino returned to write the sequel. focused on Pitt’s character Cliff Booth and his life in late-1970s Hollywood. though the rest remains a mystery.
For now, the focus stays on Heart of the Beast. The film arrives in theaters on Sept. 25.
