Boutte insists he’s staying after Brown trade

Kayshon Boutte said he wants to remain with the Patriots for the rest of his career, speaking Sunday ahead of mandatory minicamp June 9-11. His comments come as trade speculation has swirled after New England added Romeo Doubs and A.J. Brown and Boutte missed
New England’s receiver room is getting louder, and Kayshon Boutte sounded like he was trying to quiet the noise.
Speaking to WBZ’s Dan Roche on Sunday. the 24-year-old wide receiver said he doesn’t want his Patriots run to become a footnote in last year’s surprising Super Bowl run. “I want to be in New England for the rest of my career,” Boutte told Roche. “I’ve enjoyed it out here. Been here three years. Every day I’m here. I call this home. This is my new home. Grew up in Louisiana, stayed there 20 years, but now Boston is my life.”.
His remarks land amid trade talk that has followed him through the offseason, intensified by New England’s receiver additions. Boutte’s name has been mentioned in several trade rumors. and those whispers have gained traction as the Patriots this offseason added Romeo Doubs and A.J. Brown to their receiver corps.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter said on his podcast last week that Boutte could be open to moving on in 2026. “One wide receiver I’m still suspecting that something might happen with is Kayshon Boutte,” Schefter noted. ”He has not been there for the offseason program. He has been interested in a trade. I would think that at some point this summer, we may get action there. Another deal, Kayshon Boutte, going somewhere else. We’ll see how that works out.”.
The speculation has tracked with what Boutte did—or didn’t do—during parts of the offseason. He was absent during the Patriots’ voluntary offseason programs and organized team activities (OTAs) over the last few weeks. But Boutte said on Saturday that he will be in attendance for the team’s mandatory minicamp from June 9-11.
Asked about what kept him away. Boutte framed his decision as a way to keep the trade noise from taking over his focus. “Just a lot of speculation going on. Just trying to figure out everything,” Boutte said. “I try not to buy into whether it’s the trade rumors or anything like that. I’m still working even though I’m away. That’s my focus.” He also told Roche that he worked out on his own down in Florida over the last few weeks.
On the field, Boutte’s argument for why he should matter in this offense is rooted in last season’s production. He developed a strong rapport with Drake Maye, serving as the young quarterback’s go-to option deep down the field. In 14 games, Boutte recorded 551 yards and six touchdowns on 33 catches.
Still, the roster shift this offseason could change how often he’s targeted. With both Romeo Doubs and A.J. Brown now on the roster, Boutte said he understands the competition that comes with a deeper receiving group. The overlap is especially clear at the “X” receiver spot. where an established All-Pro like Brown could be used in a role similar to what Boutte has done.
Boutte did not sound threatened by the new arrival, though. He welcomed Brown’s addition to an offense that stumbled in the playoffs. culminating in a disastrous showing against the Seahawks in Super Bowl LX. “That was a good pickup,” Boutte said of Brown. “He’s a great dude. You watch him, he dominates. Great X-receiver, dominant. Whether that’s deep ball, short route, he can catch.“Slant and take it to the house. Big-bodied, contested catches. We watch those guys. I’m an X-receiver, too. I sit there and watch his tape. Just a guy you see that constantly wins 1-on-1.”.
In the end. Boutte’s message to the Patriots—and to the rumor cycle around him—was simple: he expects to earn every role. not be handed one. Even if Brown and Boutte overlap in skillset. Boutte said he welcomes the fight for a regular role in 2026 and beyond. “There’s always competition. Every year,” he said. “Nothing is going to be given to you. Whether you’re on the outside looking in or on the inside looking in. At the end of the day, every day counts. You’ve got to make it count.”.
That framing will be tested quickly once mandatory minicamp begins June 9-11, with Boutte insisting he’s already where he wants to be—while the offseason speculation about where he might be playing next keeps resurfacing.

He’ll say anything to not get traded lol.
Wait so he “calls New England home” but also missed stuff? Sounds like he contradicting himself. Patriots receivers just keep changing, I swear.
This is just PR. If Adam Schefter said 2026 trade then that’s basically already written. Also how you gonna be in Boston as your life but you weren’t at the offseason program? Makes no sense.
I don’t even get why they’d trade him when they already got all those guys. Maybe they’re just trying to make him look guilty or something. Like he wants to stay but then he’s “getting quieter” so that’s definitely a sign, right? I swear every offseason is the same rumor cycle.
