Bonnie Tyler wakes from coma, cancels summer shows

Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler is “no longer in a coma” but remains “very unwell” in intensive care, according to a post on her official website. She has also cancelled or postponed all her remaining shows this years. It had been announced that the 75-year-old was taken to a hospital near to her home in Faro, Portugal for emergency intestinal surgery earlier this month. is progressing with her recovery,” the statement said. “Bonnie is no longer in a coma but remains very unwell and in intensive care in hospital in Portugal. Although her condition is improving it is a slow process. “Her doctors remain confident that she will make a good recovery but it is going to take time. “As such we are sorry to tell everyone that we will be cancelling, or postponing until next year where possible, all of our remaining shows this (northern hemisphere) summer. “This
will affect every current show until the end of August. At present we are still hopeful that our shows in the autumn will go ahead.” The statement went on to apologise to fans and promoters for “the disappointment that this will cause” but said it trusted they would “understand and bear with us in these difficult circumstances”. It added: “We would like to thank everyone for the huge outpouring of love and support from all over the world that we have received for Bonnie and
want to tell you that she is aware of, and very grateful for, your good wishes. “Bonnie’s family continue to ask for privacy and promise that we will issue further updates as soon as there are significant developments to share.” Last week, a spokesperson for the singer said her family had been distressed by many “lurid and untrue rumours” circulating. She was due to perform at Sunshine Festival in Worcester along with a number of European dates, and she is also booked to perform at
Cardiff’s Utilita Arena on December 17, which it is hoped will still go ahead. Tyler, whose real name is Gaynor Hopkins, achieved international fame in the 1980s, with the release of her hit single Total Eclipse of the Heart which shot to the top of the charts in the United Kingdom and the United States. Recognisable for her husky voice, Tyler has released many hit songs over the years including Holding Out for a Hero, It’s a Heartache and If You Were A Woman (And
I Was A Man).

Praying she pulls through, but like… intestinal surgery is scary.
Coma to “very unwell” in intensive care… so is she actually awake or not? I’m confused. Hope she gets better either way.
I saw something on TikTok that said she was “fine”?? then this says canceling shows, so idk what’s real. Also why Portugal if she’s Welsh like wouldn’t that be closer to home.
This is the part that bugs me, they say she’s improving but slow process… improving from what, like did the coma have something to do with the rumors? Anyway canceling until next year seems brutal for fans, but better than making her push through. If she’s still booked for Cardiff in December then maybe she just needed rest??
