Blue Jays’ Vladimir Guerrero Jr. gets completely honest after big series vs. Guardians

The Toronto Blue Jays have not been getting a tremendous season in 2026 from slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr., but he’s stepped up of late, particularly in the just-concluded series against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field in Cleveland.

Guerro recorded at least a hit in each of the three games in the Guardians series, and that includes a 3-for-4 (including a home run) and 5-RBI evening in Wednesday’s 11-0 crushing of Cleveland. In the series finale on Thursday, the 27-year-old Guerrero went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI, as Toronto came away with a 6-3 victory to also win the series.

The mindset remains the same for Guerrero, who’s more focused on helping the Blue Jays than on his struggles at the plate.

“To be honest with you, my mindset right now it’s about winning games.. obviously at this time of the year, I’m not gonna put the numbers that I would like to have, so my mindset is try to do the little things, everything I can do possible to help my team win games,” Guerrero said after the Guardians game (h/t MLB broadcaster Hazel Mae).

So far this season, Guerrero is batting .260/.332/.357 with only eight home runs to his name. None of those home runs have come at home, but the six-time All-Star’s strong performance at the plate lately still helps boost Toronto’s chances of making the playoffs.

With their win over Cleveland, the Blue Jays are only half a game outside of the last wild-card spot in the American League that is currently occupied by the Guardians.
