A pair of top-30 prospects in the Jays system, Charles McAdoo and Carson Messina, were among those recognized with minor-league player of the week nods on Monday.
McAdoo, 24, was named International League (triple-A) player of the week after hitting four home runs and going 13-for-28 at the plate. The infield prospect has spent most of the 2026 season with the triple-A Buffalo Bisons, but did make his MLB debut back in May. McAdoo, the No. 12 prospect in Toronto’s system, played in eight games with the Blue Jays in 2026, posting one homer, four hits, three RBI and two runs in that span while holding a .160 batting average through 25 at-bats.
With Buffalo, McAdoo is slashing .269/.366/.465 with 16 home runs and 57 RBI through 331 at-bats over 89 games.
McAdoo joined the franchise in 2024 after he was acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for Isiah Kiner-Falefa.
As for Messina, the righty was named the Florida State League (single-A) pitcher of the week after throwing five no-hit innings for single-A Dunedin last Friday. The Blue Jays’ No. 27 prospect has split the 2026 season between the rookie ball FCL Blue Jays and single-A Dunedin. The 20-year-old has posted a 1.69 ERA in five games (four starts) in the Florida Complex League, while posting a 3.26 ERA through 10 starts with Dunedin.
In his last outing at single-A, he pitched five innings of no-hit ball and racked up four strikeouts and three walks. He’s allowed 18 hits while posting 33 strikeouts and 19 walks through 30.1 innings at the single-A level this season.
The Blue Jays selected Messina in the 12th round of the 2024 amateur draft.
