Blake Lively Wins Legal Fees From Justin Baldoni

Court records show Blake Lively won an important piece of her legal fight, with a judge ordering Justin Baldoni and his company Wayfarer Studios to cover her legal expenses—while also denying her punitive and treble damages.

The verdict landed, and it didn’t let Blake Lively walk away from her legal battle empty-handed.

Court records viewed by MISRYOUM on Friday show that Justin Baldoni was ordered to cover Blake’s legal expenses as the case between the two wound down. It’s a significant shift in a fight that has been anything but simple.

Blake and Justin had settled her lawsuit against him over alleged sexual harassment and retaliation, reportedly for no money at all. Both sides said the settlement was ultimately a win for them, but the courtroom drama didn’t stop there.

Justin’s countersuit had already been dismissed, and Blake moved to seek fees after she argued that under California law she was owed legal fees and damages tied to the retaliatory legal action. Now, a judge has granted her a measure of what she asked for.

A judge awarded Blake legal fees and costs to be covered by Baldoni and his company, Wayfarer Studios. The part that stings for Blake. and changes the outcome. is what she did not receive: she will not get punitive and treble damages. The exact amount Justin and Wayfarer Studios will be ordered to pay is also undetermined at this time. though it’s expected to be substantial given how long and time-consuming the dispute has been.

The timeline reflects a case that consumed serious time and attention—often for reasons that don’t end at settlement. Here. the settlement and the legal fees ruling together land in the same complicated space: one side saying the end result was a victory. and the courts ultimately determining what financial responsibilities follow from the legal fight itself.

  1. Wait I thought they already settled for no money? Then why are we still paying legal fees, like who pays who at that point. News makes it sound like both “won” but the judge still ordered something.

  2. Punitive and treble damages were denied… so basically the judge said it wasn’t that bad? Or is it just paperwork / technicality. I’m confused because sexual harassment/retaliation sounds like exactly the kind of case for punitive damages.

  3. I heard a whole different version of this on TikTok like months ago, so maybe that’s why I don’t get it. Like if the countersuit was dismissed and she got legal fees, doesn’t that mean he still lost for real. Also “no money” settlement but now legal costs are substantial?? judges always be doing math weird.
