The Buffalo Bills lost one of their top offensive players to an apparent injury during their “Thursday Night Football” clash with the Detroit Lions.
Wide receiver DJ Moore was hurt while trying to make a catch in the end zone in the waning moments of the second quarter.
Moore landed hard on his left shoulder while trying to make a diving catch before Lions cornerback Rock Ya-Sin fell on top of him. The veteran wideout remained down on the ground, favoring his shoulder before medical staff was called onto the field to tend to him.
Moore eventually walked off the field under his own power but headed straight to the locker room for further evaluation.
Amazon Prime Video’s Kaylee Hartung reported Moore’s evaluation would include X-rays on his injured shoulder.
The Bills officially ruled Moore out of Thursday’s game because of a shoulder injury. The veteran receiver had originally been deemed “questionable” to return because of a shoulder injury and a stinger.
Moore did not make a catch before exiting the game. He handled one touch, a jet-sweep carry that went for a loss of one yard.
For those wondering, a stinger is defined as “a stretch or a pinch to one or more of the nerves branching off the spinal cord,” according to the Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
Stingers are considered a “mild injury” and can “cause tingling and numbness in the arms and fingers.”
Moore suffered a shoulder injury while diving to try to make a catch. He was unable to reel in the pass, which hit him in the chest, and he landed hard and awkwardly on his left shoulder.
Moore remained down after the play and required medical treatment before exiting the field under his own power and headed to the locker room. He was later ruled out for the rest of the game.

Rookie Skyler Bell is listed as Moore’s backup on the Bills’ official depth chart, but the rookie is inactive for Thursday’s game against the Lions.
The Bills dressed five receivers for “Thursday Night Football.” Moore, Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman are the team’s starters while Joshua Palmer and Greg Dortch are the backups.
Coleman and Shakir will likely absorb the bulk of the Bills’ snaps with Moore ruled out. Meanwhile, Palmer and Dortch could split time as the team’s No. 3 receiver.
