Bill Maher Predicts 2026 Win Democrats Can’t Blow

Bill Maher told listeners on Monday’s Club Random podcast that Democrats will win the 2026 midterms—because President Donald Trump is, in Maher’s view, historically unpopular and growing more unpopular even within his own base. Maher tied that forecast to Trum

On Monday, Bill Maher didn’t just talk politics—he leaned into a certainty that sounded almost impossible to mess up.

Speaking on his Club Random podcast, Maher said Democrats “are going to [win]. They cannot help but win,” adding, “Even they can’t blow it.” He began to chuckle as he made the point.

Jeff Dunham pushed back: “Really?”

Maher’s answer was blunt. He argued that Trump’s unpopularity is doing the heavy lifting for Democrats. saying. “Oh yeah. Trump is historically unpopular.” Then he went further. saying Trump is becoming “unpopular more so in his own party. his own base.” Maher said people “did not like the [Iran] war. ” and that dissatisfaction is part of why Democrats can expect an outcome that. in his view. is already essentially decided.

Maher also revisited Trump’s decision to take out Iran’s supreme leader. calling it “funny” because he had supported it at the time. “Now that it didn’t quite work, there was no uprising, I’m not for making this indefinite,” Maher said. He added that he was glad Trump “has pivoted to naval blockades rather than wiping out the country entirely.”.

The comments landed days after Trump said he expects a peace deal with Iran to be signed this week. Trump told Fox News he believes it could happen “as soon as Monday. ” according to the interview described in Maher’s segment. Maher’s remarks moved quickly from foreign policy into the political payoff he thinks it brings at home.

He then complimented Trump again, saying the president has a “knack” for identifying issues other politicians won’t touch. Maher pointed to “insanity festering” on college campuses and said he believes Americans are noticing what he described as students going “too woke.” “No amount of voodoo can make me think I didn’t see that. ” Maher said.

Immigration, too, became part of his pitch for why Democrats should feel confident. Maher said Trump was right that illegal immigration is a big problem. But his approval came with sharp criticism of what followed. saying he went “way too far” and “f*cked it up” by “siccing” ICE on American cities. Maher described that approach as “unconstitutional and way too cruel.”.

The through-line in Maher’s remarks was a series of splits: praise paired with regret on Iran. attention-getting tactics paired with calls that they’ve crossed lines on immigration. and a midterms prediction anchored in the idea that Trump’s political vulnerabilities are already doing the work for Democrats.
