Just Jared: Thank you for sitting down with me. I saw you mentioned in other interviews that you were regretful about some of the things that went down with Taylor. Now that you’re several days removed from the game, how are you processing that situation with her?
Haley Thogmartin: I mean, you can’t really sit and dwell on it. The only way to actually learn from your stuff is you know, to process it, you know, learn from it, move forward. So, you know, a lot just being said, I think I kind of made my statement with it, but I think she’s an incredible person. You know, I think she does a lot, you know, with kids and she makes a huge impact. And I just kind of want to stand on that. Like, again…she has great character. She’s a great person. It’s just, we just butted heads with the game.
JJ: Do you think you’ll reach out to her post Big Brother?
Haley Thogmartin: Yeah, I think I’d probably reach out to everybody once the game’s over.
JJ: Looking back today, do you still think you were bullied by Lala?
Haley Thogmartin: I wish I wouldn’t have used the term bully, but there was a lot of comments that were just made to other people, you know, to me standing in front of her that I just I didn’t love. And so it was early in the morning. It was a very quick fast pace right off the bat when you wake up conversation. And I just wish I wouldn’t [have] use[d] that term.

JJ: You said you had a hard week in the house and that kind of became a rotating joke online while you were still in the game. Talk to me about the mindset of what actually did feel hard and do you see what Big Brother fans, from the outside, why they were having some fun with that phrase?
Haley Thogmartin: Yeah, so again it had nothing to do with the game at all. I understood, you know, the position I was in, but I truly underestimated how much of a toll it would take on your mental…like the emotional end. And so I think that was my biggest part that I just did not even think to clock how heavy it would be. And so I think that was my biggest problem. And it was all internally within myself.
JJ: Talk to me a little bit about that, the mental aspect of the game. Going in, did you have any idea it would be like that, being inside that house? Did you think about the mental toll that that would take?
Haley Thogmartin: No. I mean, [outside] you get outlets to go read a book, go read the back of a magazine, to sit on your phone. To just lay down on actual grass and look up at the sky and look at trees or look at, I don’t know, bugs outside. But when you are stuck in that house and, you know we were in the house more than we were outside, it really does take effect on your mental and your emotional side of things. You’re not able to have adequate sleep either. You’re constantly woken up in the middle of the night for [the Diary Room confessionals] and stuff. So I just think it played a bigger toll when you’re so used to a routine and then now it’s completely stripped from you. I knew that was going to happen, but I didn’t expect it to be that hard on me.
JJ: Is there anything you feel like you want to address but haven’t been able to yet? Or is there anything you want to clear up for fans?
Haley Thogmartin: Yeah, the bubbly fun comment. I was exhausted. That was probably 12 hours in and I was just tired. Yeah, I know I got some heat on that one. [Editor’s note: Haley is referencing her Big Brother bio where she referenced herself as “outgoing, bubbly, and fun.” Fans often noted that her personality leaned in a different direction in the game.]

JJ: Have you been able to see online what fans have been saying about your game just in general?
Haley Thogmartin I’m trying to give myself a little bit of time just to be able to kind of sit back, you know, talk to my family a little bit. And I haven’t dove too much onto the online stuff just because, again, I did have, you know, a lot of, I don’t want to say issues with, you know, the emotional mental end. But I just want to you know give myself enough time before I dive into it
JJ: How do you feel about being the last person evicted before jury?
Haley Thogmartin: I mean, expect the unexpected. This was a roller coaster game as it is but, you know there’s pros and cons to getting out right now. I do wish that i would have been able to kind of make the decision or help make the decision at the end of the game but, you know i did miss home a lot and it played a big toll on m.
