Best Buy Canada leak points to June 25 debut

Google’s Gemini-powered Home Speaker, first announced in October 2025, has stayed mysteriously out of the spotlight. Now a Best Buy Canada product page appears to have surfaced a release date—June 25, 2026—before removing it, reigniting questions about how clo
Google’s Gemini-powered Home Speaker has been strangely quiet for months. It was first announced in October 2025, and since then the company has kept a low profile—so low that many people expected it to show up at I/O 2026.
It didn’t.
Then, without any big public push, a product page on Best Buy Canada surfaced what looks like a release date: June 25, 2026. The date didn’t stick. The page was updated later, and the launch information was removed.
That sequence—listing a specific date, then taking it down—often happens when a real release window is posted before the company wants it visible. Screenshots reportedly captured the original date before it disappeared, keeping the June 25 claim alive even without confirmation from Google.
The timing also catches the eye. June 25 falls four days after spring officially ends on June 21, which adds a little more weight to the idea that this wasn’t just an invented placeholder.
The bigger picture is the length of the wait itself. Since October 2025. Google has been rolling out Gemini for Home to existing hardware—updates have been landing three to four times per month since March 2026. For many buyers. that means the delay hasn’t looked like a stalled product launch so much as a careful staging of the AI across current devices before introducing new ones.
At launch. the Home Speaker is expected to be built around a 360-degree fabric design. with the base handling the microphone mute switch and a ring of status lights. Those lights are meant to glow dynamically when the speaker is listening. thinking. or responding—an attempt to make the AI’s activity visible.
Some features are tied to Gemini: brainstorming, for example, requires a Gemini subscription.
Google also designed the speaker for setups beyond a single room. Two Home Speakers can be paired with the Google TV Streamer for a home cinema arrangement, while stereo pairing with existing Nest Audio speakers opens the door to multi-room audio across a house.
At the center is Google’s Gemini AI assistant, built for natural language conversation, plus smart home control and automation.
Price and availability are already clearer than the calendar. The Home Speaker is priced at $99.99 in the US. and it’s listed in four colors: Berry. Hazel. Jade. and Porcelain. Availability is confirmed for 19 countries, including the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Ireland, and Japan.
If the June 25, 2026 date turns out to be accurate, the months of silence suddenly snap into focus: Google likely didn’t just build a new speaker—it waited until the Gemini rollout on existing hardware was far enough along to meet a wider release with a working experience across the lineup.

June 25 already?! sure why not, tech leaks are always fake until suddenly they aren’t.
So it’s been announced since Oct 2025 but nothing at I/O? Sounds like Google is gonna drop it last minute or it’s delayed again. Also the Best Buy page thing… kinda sus they put a date then yank it.
I don’t get why everyone is acting like June 25 is real. Best Buy Canada just posts stuff, they probably used a placeholder like for every other gadget. The fact they removed it “later” doesn’t prove anything, it just proves the internet panicked.
The only part I care about is the microphone mute switch and the glowing ring lights. Like if it can’t mute properly then what’s the point. And “360-degree fabric” sounds fancy but also like it’s gonna collect dust and fingerprints immediately. If it’s really debuting June 25, why was it so quiet for months… unless they’re just waiting for Apple to blink or something? Either way I’ll believe it when it’s actually on shelves.
