Before Arrival: ‘Vitality: Still Becoming’ at The Bomb Factory Art Foundation – Our Culture

YUNYE Art presents Vitality: Still Becoming, a group exhibition bringing together 20 emerging artists at The Bomb Factory Art Foundation – Holborn, London, from 6–9 August 2026. Curated by Yutong Ye, the exhibition explores becoming as an ongoing process of growth, transformation, and possibility.
Through painting, installation and mixed media, artists approach becoming from different perspectives, exploring moments in which identities, emotions and meanings are still taking shape. Paintings move between abstract and figurative languages, while sculptural and mixed-media works bring everyday materials and tactile surfaces into the space. Forms emerge and dissolve, materials accumulate and transform, and images move between recognition and abstraction. Vibrant colours, fluid forms, and layered surfaces evoke a sense of movement and emergence, capturing moments in which possibilities are still unfolding.
The works move between intimate personal narratives and broader cultural and social experiences. Some turn inward towards perception, imagination and emotional experience, while others consider relationships between individuals and their surroundings, exploring intimacy, distance, place and connection. This sense of the ongoing creates a space in which new meanings and possibilities can continue to emerge, inviting viewers to remain with the moments before arrival.

“Vitality: Still Becoming began with a personal idea that the most beautiful state is the moment when you know something is coming, but it has not yet arrived,” says curator Yutong Ye. “In life, we often pursue a finished state, yet in art we embrace uncertainty and leave ambiguous spaces open for discussion. The process itself can be vital precisely as it is unsettling, exploratory and exciting.”

The exhibition is accompanied by a series of public programmes, including expressive painting and collage workshops that invite audiences to engage directly with the artists’ thinking and creative processes. Through making, conversation and exchange, the programme extends the exhibition beyond finished works and invites audiences to become part of its ongoing process.
