The Bears — and other NFL teams — need to cut their roster down from 90 players to 53 by 5 p.m. Sunday.
Teams can then begin assembling a 16-man practice squad Monday.

11:30 a.m.
The Bears are cutting receiver Scotty Miller, a Barrington High School alum and former Super Bowl champion, per ESPN.
7:45 a.m.
The Bears agreed to trade defensive tackle Gervon Dexter to the Falcons in exchange for cornerback Clark Phillips III and a 2027 fifth-round pick.
Like Phillips, Dexter is entering the final year of his rookie contract. The Bears weren’t willing to give him a contract extension and watched him fall behind in training camp. Veterans Kentavius Street and Neville Gallimore and rookie Jordan van den Berg had emerged as part of the team’s interior rotation alongside Grady Jarrett.
Phillips, who missed most of last season with a triceps injury, plays outside cornerback. He’s appeared in 28 games, starting seven times, since being drafted out of Utah.
11 a.m.
The Bears have released veteran wide receiver Scotty Miller, who spent the offseason with them, a source said. As a vested veteran, he immediately becomes a free agent and can sign elsewhere.
Miller, from Barrington, has played seven NFL seasons and had nine catches for 62 yards with the Steelers last season.
