Sebastian Gorka, President Donald Trump’s senior director of counterterrorism, erupted into a public war of words with a conservative magazine after it published a profile questioning his influence inside the White House.
The Spectator published the piece on Thursday. featuring writer Paul Wood’s account of an exchange after Gorka allegedly emailed him from an official White House account.. Wood said he was surprised by the timing and that Gorka had the “time to speak to” him during what Wood described as a busy period on the National Security Council.
Wood’s account portrays the interaction as hostile.. Rather than addressing Wood’s questions. the profile says Gorka called Spectator editor Freddy Gray a “risible little twerp” and a “ball-less wonder.” Wood wrote that Gorka’s response showed “rancor” out of proportion to what he described as The Spectator’s history of “gentle fun” aimed at pricking the official’s “pomposity.”
In the profile. Wood also alleged that Gorka has been marginalized and is not viewed as a serious figure by colleagues.. Wood cited an unnamed source who described the counterterrorism official as “a very vain person who likes to leak to the press incessantly.” Wood went further. alleging that Gorka was not involved in targeting terrorists and was “not even ‘super-involved’” in decisions about ISIS. adding that officials either worked around him or ignored him.
Gray pushed back after reaching out for comment. He told Mediaite that “Testicles appear to feature prominently in the good doctor’s imagination. I only wish I had his balls.”
The fight comes as Gorka’s standing has been under scrutiny this week after he publicly named former Trump ally Tucker Carlson and far-right commentator Nick Fuentes in the context of a discussion about “right-wing extremism” and terrorism with Breitbart News.
Left-wing journalist Ken Klippenstein accused Gorka of targeting freedom of speech, characterizing his remarks as a “blatantly political act of revenge” against Carlson and Fuentes for splitting with Trump over his Iran war.
The criticism has also extended beyond mainstream outlets. Infowars founder and former Trump ally Alex Jones attacked Gorka on his show on Wednesday, describing him with a string of insults including “slimeball,” “piece of crap,” and “interloping, ladder-climbing, sycophantic worm-tongue.”
For Gorka, the latest exchange underscores the tension between his high-profile role in counterterrorism and the increasingly public battles over influence, rhetoric, and loyalty inside the president’s orbit.

I read that Gorka was actually fired last week and nobody told him yet which is why hes acting out like this. my cousin works near DC and said everyone there already knows hes been pushed out. the White House just hasnt made it official because of all the other stuff going on with Iran. so basically hes just walking around pretending he still has a job and thats why he has time to send angry emails to random journalists. it honestly makes total sense when you think about it that way. people dont just blow up like this unless they know something bad is coming.
