Bannon fumes at Barrett as Trump mail-vote fight turns

Steve Bannon didn’t just criticize Amy Coney Barrett after the Supreme Court’s mail-in voting ruling—he questioned whether she should have ever been on the court at all.
Speaking on his “War Room” podcast. the former Trump adviser directed his anger at Barrett and at officials from Trump’s first Cabinet who he said helped support her nomination in 2020. “Did anybody do any due diligence here?” Bannon asked. adding. “I know it was quite behind-the-scenes — it was quite contentious before. But the right-to-life crowd, hey, did you do your due diligence?”.
He kept pushing the point. “Are you happy with what you got?” he asked, framing his question around Barrett as “a lovely pick.” The remark came with sarcasm aimed at Trump, who nominated Barrett shortly before the 2020 election to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Barrett’s role in the decision is central to why Bannon is stewing. In the Supreme Court ruling. Barrett joined Chief Justice John Roberts and three liberal justices in blocking President Donald Trump’s efforts to restrict mail-in voting. Barrett also authored part of the majority opinion that defended Congress’ authority over election law.
In the opinion. Barrett wrote that “The Framers recognized the difficulty of crafting election laws ‘applicable to every probable change in the situation of the country. ’” explaining that the Framers instead chose not to constitutionalize election law. “So instead of constitutionalizing election law. they decided that ‘a discretionary power over elections’ needed to be lodged ‘somewhere. ’” she continued. “Suffice it to say, that power was not lodged in this Court. The Election Day statutes say nothing about ballot receipt, and we cannot add to the words Congress chose.”.
Bannon’s outburst landed in a moment when other conservative figures were already sharpening their attacks on Barrett. Trump called the decision “a tremendous loss.” Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly weighed in too. saying on her show. “Amy Coney Barrett is a turncoat. She’s constantly sitting with the left.”.
Sen. Eric Schmitt called the ruling “a shockingly wrong opinion,” while Trump later warned that the decision “gives people more time to vote illegally.”
The complaints are not limited to one case. Barrett has increasingly drawn criticism from Trump allies after ruling against the president in several high-profile cases, including decisions involving foreign aid funding and tariffs.
And Bannon wasn’t done predicting where Barrett would land next. He also correctly predicted that Barrett would side against Trump again in a Supreme Court ruling on birthright citizenship.
What ties the reactions together—Bannon’s podcast rant. Trump’s condemnation. and the sharp commentary from Kelly and Schmitt—is the same simmering conflict: a president’s allies feel the Supreme Court is moving against him. and they’re treating Barrett as the symbol of that shift. When she joins a majority with Chief Justice John Roberts and three liberal justices. that frustration isn’t just political—it becomes personal. loud. and immediate.

Barrett can’t catch a break lol.
So Bannon mad that Barrett voted with them and also against mail restrictions? Sounds like he’s mad she did her job. But also I’m confused why mail votes is even the whole thing when people keep doing whatever anyway.
Wait I thought Barrett was the one who was supposed to help Trump stuff get passed?? Like why would Bannon even question her like that if she was nominated by Trump. Unless they’re saying Trump nominated her knowing she’d block him which… idk. Also “due diligence” sounds like a fancy way of saying someone messed up.
This whole mail-vote fight is getting ridiculous. Like they’re acting like one Supreme Court justice personally controls how people vote by mail. But if Barrett “authored part” then doesn’t that mean she literally wrote the ruling start to finish? And Congress can just do election law whenever they want, right? I’m just like… ok sure.
