Kaitlyn Bristowe thought she was safely through it—until her own dog made sure she wasn’t.
The “Bachelorette” alum recently described a misstep during her recovery from blepharoplasty, the eyelid enhancement surgery, in December 2024. She said she’d had the procedure on her upper lids “just very minimal for more symmetry in my eyes.” After getting the stitches out. she went home following “a few glasses of wine. ” and like she often does. she “dive[s] face-first into my dogs.”.
That habit turned into trouble when one of her dogs, Pino, pawed at her face while she was greeting it. Bristowe recalled that her eyelid ended up “hanging open” after the dog’s paw accidentally came into contact with the wound from the surgery.
“It was December 23. It’s right before Christmas,” she said, adding that the anxiety landed at the worst possible time—her boyfriend was with her. “And he was like, ‘You should have seen yourself,’” Bristowe continued. Then the moment shifted from comedy to panic.
She told the “Page Six Radio” hosts Danny Murphy and Evan Real that she ended up lighting up a cigarette to get through the scare. even though she doesn’t smoke. Bristowe described the scene as she faced her uncertainty at home with her eyelid still exposed: she was “drinking a glass of wine. ” “FaceTiming my doctor while she was at a Christmas party. ” and asking what to do.
“She goes, ‘Lube it up. I’ll see you in the morning,’” Bristowe said, closing the loop on how the recovery went from an outpatient appointment to an emergency call—right before the holiday.
Her surgery timeline has also drawn sharp criticism online in recent years. On December 30. 2024. she addressed backlash about her surgical enhancements in an Instagram post that included photos of herself taken before and after the surgeries. “Believe it or not. I’ve done more work on the inside… To the people who always wanna comment. ‘You were so much prettier before all the work you’ve had done. ’ I suggest you do the important work on the inside before judging what’s on the outside. ” she wrote.
Bristowe has previously spoken about her past cosmetic procedures as well. In 2021. responding to a tweet about how her look had changed since her 2015 stint on “The Bachelorette. ” she said she’d gotten a brow lift. brow microblading. lip filler. and teeth bonding. She also joked that aging, darker hair, learning how to contour, and putting on weight all contributed.
During the same recent “Page Six Radio” conversation, Bristowe added another detail: she disclosed that she’s also had a breast augmentation.
