Ayden Sng sets sights on Double Helix boys’ love drama
Singapore actor Ayden Sng is starring in his first boys’ love web drama, Double Helix, adapted from a Chinese novel.
Ayden Sng is stepping into a new kind of role, with his first boys’ love drama project now taking shape.
The Singaporean actor, 32, has been named for Double Helix, a web drama adapted from the Chinese novel A Round Trip To Love by writer Lan Lin. The release is yet to be officially announced, though online chatter points to May.
At the centre of Double Helix is Lu Feng, a wealthy heir portrayed by Sng, who develops feelings for Cheng Yichen, a gentle and academically gifted student played by Chinese actor Lv Sitong.. Their relationship is eventually pulled apart by the weight of family and school, leaving them to lose contact for years.
When they finally cross paths again, the story shifts to reunion, complicated entanglements, and a gradual path toward reconciliation. The drama also includes Chinese actors He Jiashu and Fa Xuange in supporting roles.
On April 20, Chinese agency Mejoy Entertainment welcomed Sng, Lv, He and Fa to its artiste line-up on Weibo, with a similar post appearing on Instagram the following day. Sng later shared the Weibo update, adding that “a new chapter, a new journey, has officially begun.”
Insight: For fans, casting and official social media activity often signal how quickly a project is moving from announcement to audience visibility, especially with web dramas.
A 75-second video trailer was then released on YouTube on April 30. In the preview, Lv’s character accuses Sng’s character of pulling him into a scheme tied to revenge, before Sng replies with a line that frames his years apart as enduring hardship while the other lived on.
Behind-the-scenes clips have also surfaced online, including one that shows Sng and Lv embracing, adding more momentum ahead of the telecast timeline.
Insight: Even without a confirmed date, trailers and production footage tend to sharpen expectations around tone and character chemistry, which can strongly influence how viewers respond.
Double Helix will be familiar territory in one sense for Sng, who has previously appeared in Chinese productions.. He took on supporting roles in Perfect Match (2025) and Feud (2025), and in Singapore-linked projects he played an inspector in the microdrama Who Did My Ah Ma Kill (2025).. He also appeared opposite Love 972 DJ Chen Biyu in the microdrama Please Fall In Love Ms Pan (2026).. The source novel A Round Trip To Love was previously adapted into a 2016 Chinese two-part web movie starring Gao Taiyu as Lu Feng and Huang Jingxiang as Cheng Yichen.
