Ayan Bauyrzhan reached the Asian U-15 semifinals after knocking down an Indian opponent twice and winning by technical knockout in the first round.
A fast first round decided everything for Kazakhstan’s Ayan Bauyrzhan at the Asian Boxing Championships.
The boxer from Kazakhstan advanced to the semifinals in the under-15 category being held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The path to that spot came through a quarterfinal bout in the 70kg weight class.
In that fight, Bauyrzhan faced Mehul Rane of India. Early in the first round, he sent the Indian boxer to the canvas twice, turning the quarterfinal into a decisive contest.
As soon as the bout was under pressure, the referee chose to stop the action and award Bauyrzhan a win by technical knockout. That result moved him into the next stage of the competition.
A key point in the tournament format is that Bauyrzhan is now guaranteed at least a bronze medal, since there is no bout for third place in this event.
Meanwhile, another Kazakhstan representative, Rowan Togizbay, also reached the semifinals in the under-61kg division. He defeated Iran’s Ili Mehra bi in a close fight decided by judges, 3-2.
This matters beyond one match because the semifinals stage usually tightens the focus for young athletes and their teams, with every win bringing bigger expectations and greater momentum.
The Asian championships for boxers aged under-15 and under-17 are taking place in Tashkent and will run until May 15.. Earlier in the event, Misryoum reported that Kazakhstan’s Samal Tölепберген secured a convincing victory over an opponent from Uzbekistan to qualify for the semifinals in the girls’ under-15 category.
For Bauyrzhan, the first-round outcome has set a clear tone for his campaign, and his next bout will now come with the confidence of already having a podium result secured.
