Auburn police asking for public’s help finding hit-and-run driver who killed dog

Auburn police are seeking the public’s hep in finding a hit-and-run driver who killed a dog Wednesday.
Around 8:00 p.m., a vehicle struck and killed a dog that was being walked by its owner on Stone Street, according to Auburn police. The dog’s owner was not hit.
After the collision, the driver fled the scene toward South Street, police said.
“We are asking residents in the Stone Street and South Street area to check any home security, doorbell, or exterior cameras for footage that may have captured the vehicle around the time of the incident,” Auburn police said on social media. “This was a member of someone’s family. We are asking for the community’s help in identifying the vehicle involved and determining exactly what occurred.”
Anyone with information or video footage regarding the incident should contact Auburn police and reference case number 26-1438-OF, police said.
