ATP Cincinnati Day 6 Predictions Including Frances Tiafoe vs Learner Tien – Last Word On Tennis

Learner Tien and Frances Tiafoe are set to face off in an entertaining all-American clash in the third round of the ATP Cincinnati Open. This will be their second meeting of 2026. Who will advance?
ATP Cincinnati Day 6 Predictions
Lorenzo Musetti vs Michael Zheng
Head-to-head: first meeting
With the way Michael Zheng is playing this season, it is only a matter of time before he breaks into the Top 100. It could happen after the Cincinnati Open. He’s up to 105th in the live rankings after a stunning win over Ugo Humbert. Musetti looked sharper in beating Daniel Altmaier, but he is still finding his rhythm after injury. Zheng could potentially turn this into another statement win.
Prediction: Zheng in 3
Andrey Rublev vs Nuno Borges
Head-to-head: Rublev 5-0 Borges
Rublev possesses a fine record at the Cincinnati Open for a player who has not won this tournament before. He’s a former finalist and made back-to-back quarterfinals in his two visits. The Russian enjoys a perfect 5-0 head-to-head record against Nuno Borges, dropping just one set across five matches. The Portuguese No. 1 has developed into a bigger threat this season. However, once Rublev’s forehand starts firing, it’s hard to imagine Borges sustaining the level required to neutralize it.
Prediction: Rublev in 2
Jaime Faria vs Adam Walton
Head-to-head: first meeting
Faria earned the best win of his career by knocking out Montreal champion Ben Shelton in the last round. Shelton’s lack of recovery time and slow start to the match certainly played a huge part in the outcome, but Faria deserves immense credit for saving 11 out of 12 break points. Adam Walton is no pushover on hard courts. The Australian is a six-time ATP Challenger champion on this surface and has largely been untroubled so far. That should change. There are tangible reasons to back the Portuguese here. He has looked in stellar form right from qualifying.
Prediction: Faria in 3
Frances Tiafoe vs Learner Tien
Head-to-head: Tiafoe 1-1 Tien
Learner Tien has a shot at becoming the new American No. 1, but he must win the tournament at the very least. That said, not many will be ruling him out of contention with the number of upsets recorded so far. The 20-year-old bounced back from his semifinal defeat in Montreal by winning his opening match in Cincinnati. Tien defeated Sebastian Baez in straight sets for his 27th win of the season and is now two spots away from breaking into the Top 10 for the first time. Tiafoe, for his part, recovered from his recent retirement in Montreal and comfortably saw off Lorenzo Sonego 6-3 6-4. It was a real spectacle when these two met in Delray this season, and that match went the full distance. Tien is playing the better tennis than Frances Tiafoe, and it’s becoming so much harder to hit through him with the way he moves on the court. I’ll back Tien to win narrowly again.
Prediction: Tien in 3
