Surrey company Atkinson Landscaping wins national excellence award

Cloverdale has won big on the national scene. Atkinson Landscaping recently won a Canada-wide award for business excellence. The Cloverdale-based compnay got nationwide recognition at an award ceremony in Toronto earlier this year. Atkinson Landscaping won the Best Business Practices Award at the 2026 Canadian Nursery Landscape Association Awards of Business Excellence, a national program that celebrates leading companies in Canada’s landscape and horticulture industry. The Best Business Practices Award recognizes businesses that demonstrate outstanding performance in areas such as leadership, employee retention, operational excellence,

business growth, and customer service. Matt Atkinson, co-owner of Atkinson Landscaping, said winning the award meant a lot to the team. “It’s super cool to be able to win a national award for all the hard work we’ve done over the years,” Atkinson told the Cloverdale Reporter. “We’re proud of our team and we’re proud of the work they do.” Dave Endacott, co-owner of Atkinson Landscaping, said the whole award experience provided an opportunity to reflect on their last decade-plus in business. “To look at

where we started in Cloverdale—just a small company with Matt and I doing it—then to be recognized on a national level, it’s something we take a lot of pride in,” Endacott noted. “I hope our staff takes pride in it too because they are a part of it. It’s very much a team effort here. So, it’s nice to be recognized as a team for the work we put in.” Atkinson echoed Endacott, noting the company is greater than just one person and that the

award belongs to every employee. “We’ve got great staff and they work so hard to make us who we are,” Atkinson added. “So, (this award) recognizes their hard work. They are the best and they are super committed to everything we have going on.” According to the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA), Atkinson Landscaping was recognized for its “strong management practices, commitment to employees, and ability to build lasting client relationships.” The company prioritises communication, reliability and consistency—which are the leading factors behind its success—the

“qualities that clients and property managers value in an industry where dependability is essential.” CNLA cited Atkinson Landscaping’s team-first environment as a key reason they won. According to CNLA, the company “is a close-knit team committed to delivering reliable, high-quality landscaping services across its maintenance and project divisions. Atkinson is a growing company that values hard work and rewards its staff, and excels at establishing and maintaining long-term client relationships.” According to info contained in an email to the Reporter, Atkinson Landscaping has had years

of “steady growth” and a “strong people-first approach.” Founded in Cloverdale in 2014, they have built a reputation over the past 12 years across the Lower Mainland for delivering “reliable, high-quality landscaping services.” The company has a maintenance and a project division and they serve residential, commercial, and strata clients across the South Fraser region.

  1. Good for them I guess. Toronto awards always sound fancy but I bet it’s mostly who knows who. Still, retaining employees and customer service is probably hard in landscaping.

  2. Wait is this the same company that keeps showing up in my neighborhood ads? Like I thought it was just local contractors. If they won a Canada-wide thing then maybe they’re legit, but awards can be rigged too so who knows.

  3. This is kinda cool but also like… landscaping awards always confuse me. Is it about plants or like business numbers? Because half the time landscapers barely hire anyone and then you get some random crew. But they said leadership/retention/customer service so maybe they’re different. Kinda makes sense that it started small in Cloverdale with just two owners, though I’m not sure how that turns into a national award in Toronto.
