Asus ROG Edition 20 turns fans into floating displays

To mark 20 years of Republic of Gamers, Asus is releasing the limited-edition ROG G1000 Edition 20—a gold-accented prebuilt desktop that leans on a holographic AniMe Holo fan system capable of showing animations, images, and personalized graphics. It pairs the

For years, gaming PCs have competed on raw power. Asus’ Republic of Gamers (ROG) is betting that for its 20th anniversary, the real competition should be visual—something bold enough to make a desktop feel like the star of the room.

The company’s new Edition 20 lineup leads with the ROG G1000 Edition 20. a limited-edition prebuilt desktop that swaps the usual black-and-RGB gaming look for a striking gold-accented design. Asus positions it as a celebration piece rather than “just another high-end gaming desktop. ” reinforcing that idea by shipping every unit with its own serial number.

The centerpiece is the system Asus calls AniMe Holo: a holographic fan setup that turns spinning fans into floating displays. Instead of only creating light patterns. the fans can show animations. images. and personalized graphics—an approach that takes the typical RGB lighting concept and pushes it into full spectacle.

The gold theme spreads across the chassis. from illuminated accents to anniversary branding. giving the machine a more premium identity than the many gaming PCs that still chase a futuristic. battle-tank aesthetic. Asus is also leaning hard into customization. Users can sync animations. display GIFs. and coordinate lighting effects across compatible peripherals. effectively turning an entire desk into one connected light show.

What’s under the hood aims to match the extravagance. The ROG G1000 Edition 20 comes with an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card. Asus also supports up to 128GB of DDR5 memory and up to 4TB of SSD storage. positioning it for both competitive gaming and content creation.

Cooling is part of the pitch as well. The desktop uses a tri-zone airflow design that isolates major components into separate thermal zones. Asus adds what it says is the first 420mm all-in-one liquid cooler ever fitted in a prebuilt gaming PC. Whether that scale is necessary is a fair question—but in this case. practicality appears to be secondary to the message.

In the end, the ROG G1000 Edition 20 reads like a victory lap for one of gaming’s most recognizable brands: an unapologetically extravagant machine built to celebrate ROG’s 20 years, while giving PC enthusiasts something genuinely different to stare at.

  1. Gold accents and holographic fans sounds cool but also kinda gimmicky? Like just give me stable FPS, not a desk light show.

  2. Holo fan system for GIFs?? Next they’ll be putting ads on your CPU fans or something. Also that Ryzen 9 and RTX 5090—are they even real or just marketing names lol.

  3. My cousin said these AniMe Holo fans are basically like VR, so you don’t even need a monitor. Obviously that’s not true but I’m still impressed. Gold desktop looks like a collector piece though, not something you actually game on.
