Ashley Perez didn’t make the claim quietly. In a newly public interview, the ex-wife of PGA golfer Pat Perez says Phil Mickelson propositioned her in 2015—an allegation Mickelson’s team has rejected as false and misleading.
Ashley, speaking with Skratch, said Mickelson—55 years old—showed her a nude photo and allegedly asked her to come see him while she and Pat were staying at a New Jersey villa owned by Mickelson during a tournament.
Her account places the moment on the patio after the two were drinking wine. with Pat reportedly having gone to the bathroom. Ashley claims Mickelson showed her a full-body nude photo that she says included his erect penis. She alleges he then told her, “I’m going to leave my bedroom door open tonight. When Pat falls asleep I want you to come see me.”.
Ashley said she didn’t tell Pat right away because she didn’t want the situation to “get messy” while he was still competing. She later told him after the tournament ended.
The new allegation arrives after Pat Perez had already hinted at a major falling-out with Mickelson on a podcast. via TMZ. Pat said, “I have a different hate for Phil than most people. And people won’t know the story. I’m not gonna go into the story again. but Phil crossed the line with me that is just uncrossable and unforgivable.”.
Mickelson’s team responded with a statement pushing back hard. It said, “Some of the allegations circulating about Mr. Mickelson are false, and others revisit mistakes he has already acknowledged, publicly or privately. Stacking the disputed claims next to the ones he has owned does not make them credible. It instead contributes to a false and misleading narrative.”.
These claims also land during a turbulent period for Mickelson. Earlier this month, he was kicked out of a prestigious golf club for allegedly making “nonconsensual and inappropriate” contact with a female employee.
