The summer window is still months away from closing. but the noise is already deafening—especially around Arsenal and Real Madrid. where two different ambitions are colliding with the transfer market’s most stubborn question: who will actually pay. who will actually move. and who will hold their ground.

Arsenal’s loudest claim is a potential swap with Atlético Madrid to land striker Julián Álvarez. The reported structure would cost the Gunners $58 million (€50 million, £43 million) plus Viktor Gyökeres in exchange, according to El Chiringuito. For Arsenal. it’s the kind of deal that signals they’re not merely shopping—they’re trying to change the shape of their attack in one move.

That story sits among a wider shift in the Premier League’s midfield chase. Manchester United have dropped out of the race for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali. with concerns over the cost of the full package of signing the Italy international. Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur remain in pursuit, per The Telegraph.

City’s own plans look steadier. Manchester City winger Jérémy Doku has attracted interest from clubs across Europe, but he has turned down all offers in favor of signing a new contract at the Etihad, according to La Dernière Heure.

Tottenham’s business could pivot quickly, too. Roberto De Zerbi has urged Tottenham to make an approach for Köln winger Saïd El Mala. who is also a target for Brighton & Hove Albion. as reported by BILD. Juventus. meanwhile. appears to be tightening the grip on its midfield negotiations: Juventus midfielder Khéphren Thuram has turned down an approach from Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli. continuing to hold out for an offer from either Liverpool or Man Utd. according to Tuttosport.

Elsewhere in England, Chelsea are sounding out options. Chelsea have approached Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye in their search for alternatives to Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers. per Si Phillips. Aston Villa have opened talks with the representatives of Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

Juventus also has movement around other positions. Sticking with the club, striker Loïs Openda is free to leave and Everton are exploring a move to sign the Belgian on an initial loan with a view to a permanent deal, per Football Insider.

Arsenal’s internal shuffle has another domino effect: the rise of Myles Lewis-Skelly as a midfielder for Arsenal has seen Christian Nørgaard made available for transfer, according to Bold.

Brighton’s priorities are pointed at a key continuity piece. Brighton are looking to tie midfielder Yasin Ayari down to a new contract after an impressive season piqued the interest of Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle and Tottenham, per TEAMtalk.

Around the edges, the market’s “fit” arguments are surfacing too. Atalanta right back Marco Palestra has turned down a move to Chelsea after voicing concerns about the project on offer at Stamford Bridge, according to Corriere dello Sport.

That European web tightens further under La Liga’s headline story—where Real Madrid’s summer focus appears to be getting more direct. Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has requested the signing of Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes. who has a release clause of around $67 million (€58 million. £50 million). according to Fichajes.

At the top floor, president Florentino Pérez remains intent on steering a bigger, glamorous thread into place. Pérez remains focused on bringing Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise to Real Madrid and has already made contact to try to get a blockbuster deal over the line, per Mundo Deportivo.

Barcelona’s side of the story brings both youth and scouting. Marc Casadó is ready to leave Barcelona this summer over a lack of minutes. and Manchester United have shown the most interest in the young midfielder. according to MARCA. Barcelona scouts have watched Côde d’Ivoire midfielder Christ Inao Oulaï at the World Cup; Chelsea. Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain all hold an interest in the 20-year-old. who is valued at $58 million (€50 million. £43 million) by Turkish team Trabzonspor. per SportsBoom.

Real Madrid’s squad planning is also described in sales terms. After signing Marc Cucurella from Chelsea, Real Madrid are hoping to sell left back Álvaro Carreras for at least $29 million (€25 million). If a buyer cannot be found, Fran García will be sold instead, according to Lucas Navarrete.

Even with those potential exits, Real Madrid’s camp is portrayed as split between doors opening and doors staying shut. Real Madrid will not block winger Rodrygo from leaving this summer. but the Brazilian is determined to stay and fight for his place at the Bernabéu. Similarly, midfielder Eduardo Camavinga wants to stay despite interest from Serie A giants Inter, per Mundo Deportivo.

The sequence across Europe feels less like a random collection of rumors and more like clubs lining up their next moves against money. minutes. and timing. Arsenal are pairing payments with a player exchange; Manchester United are cooling on Tonali; Real Madrid are pressing a specific captain target while still chasing a star winger. The common denominator isn’t just talent—it’s leverage. and who is willing to use it before the market shifts again.

  1. I can’t tell if this is saying Arsenal agreed to pay like 58 million PLUS Gyokeres?? That seems insane for a swap, but also I’m hearing Gyokeres a lot so maybe it’s real.

  2. So United dropped Tonali because it was too expensive… but they just never spend right? Arsenal out here swapping Alvarez and sending Gyokeres which is basically the same price anyway. Teams are always lying about budgets.

  3. Real Madrid pushing for Bruno Fernandes again like he’s not already owned by vibes and rumors. Also Doku staying at City? Good, because I swear half these players just “turn down offers” until the next headline. Summer isn’t even here and everyone’s already arguing pay and who moves.
