Arrest made in Ahmad Hardy shooting after rap concert

Rashodrick Harris has been arrested over the shooting of Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy at a rap concert in Laurel, Mississippi, with police saying he faces aggravated assault charges and extradition is pending.
Police say a 20-year-old man has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting of Missouri college football star Ahmad Hardy during a rap concert in Mississippi last weekend.
Rashodrick Harris, from Wayne County, was arrested in Paducah, Kentucky, on Thursday night, Laurel Police Sgt.. Macon Davis said.. Harris was awaiting extradition.. Davis added that Harris will be charged with two counts of aggravated assault. though the investigation is ongoing and further arrests remain possible.
Hardy, an All-American running back for the Missouri Tigers, was shot in the upper leg on Sunday while attending the concert at a biker club in Laurel, about 90 minutes from his hometown of Oma. At least one other person was injured.
The Tigers’ running back underwent surgery in Mississippi and returned to Columbia, Missouri, on Wednesday.. The team later said Hardy is stable.. “Ahmad is deeply loved by his teammates, coaches, family and friends,” a Mizzou Athletics statement said on Monday morning.. “We will continue to stand beside him and his family through this difficult time. offering our love. prayers. strength and support.”
Hardy’s status for the season is now uncertain, Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz said after the shooting.
Laurel police said they used security video to identify Harris as a suspect and issued an arrest warrant after interviewing a witness. Davis said he did not know why Harris was in Paducah, describing it as about a seven-hour drive from Laurel.
Kansas City Star reported that police believe a crowd formed in the parking lot after the rap concert at Kamakazy Biker Club when gunfire suddenly “erupted.” Davis said Hardy was a passenger in a vehicle trying to leave the scene when he was shot.. The witness described the moment as “mass chaos” because several vehicles were attempting to exit at once. Davis said. adding that Hardy was already inside a vehicle at the time.
In the early stages of the investigation, officials believe Hardy was not involved in the events that led to the shooting after the concert.
Davis said three other people of interest who were taken into custody have been released without charges.
Hardy entered the spotlight in 2025 as one of the SEC’s top rushers. finishing the season with 1. 649 yards. second in the FBS. and 16 touchdowns as Missouri went 8-5. including a Gator Bowl loss to Virginia.. Several NFL mock drafts already list the 5-foot-10, 205-pound Hardy as the No.. 1 running back available next April.
