After a string of good practices from both players, 49ers stars George Kittle and Nick Bosa will be joining the 49ers in Australia.
The San Francisco 49ers will have a rather interesting start to their season. Unlike most teams, San Francisco will be starting their season on the road… a road outside of the US. The NFL season will kick off with the 49ers taking on the Los Angeles Rams in Australia, the first-ever NFL game to be held in the country. However, the overseas games poses a few interesting questions for San Francisco, particularly surrounding their injured stars.
Both tight end George Kittle and defensive end Nick Bosa are making their way back from their injuries. With the team travelling out of the country, there’s questions as to whether both players will join their team in Australia. Well, after a string of good practices from both players, Kittle and Bosa will be joining the 49ers on their flight to Australia, per Ian Rapoport.
“The #49ers leave today for their game vs the #Rams in Australia, and star TE George Kittle will make the trip after 2 positive days of practice, sources say,” Rapoport posted on X. “Kittle is trending in the right direction to play. DE Nick Bosa, ramping up with his knee, will also make the trip.”
Kittle suffered a torn Achilles tendon towards the end of the 2025 season, forcing the star to miss the 49ers’ playoff run. Meanwhile, Bosa tore his ACL midway through the season. Kittle and Bosa are just two of the many 49ers stars who suffered an injury during their 2025 campaign, a trend that’s unfortunately been common in recent seasons for the team. Other notable injuries that the Niners suffered last season were to Fred Warner (ankle), Brock Purdy (toe), and Ricky Pearsall.
San Francisco is hoping to get revenge against the Rams in Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season. Unfortunately, it’s much easier said than done. The Rams have greatly improved this offseason, trading for Myles Garrett and Trent McDuffie to bolster their defense. To makes matter worse, long-time tormentor of the 49ers Aaron Donald came back from retirement.
