Apple TV’s summer lineup heats up with three new series

Apple TV’s – Apple TV says it’s set to deliver its biggest summer lineup yet, riding momentum from three critically acclaimed premieres and looking ahead to Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed on May 20, Star City on May 29, and Cape Fear on June 5.
A new Apple TV lineup is coming into focus just as the streamer’s latest wave of originals is already earning praise. After months leaning heavily on returning favorites, Apple TV has shifted into premiere mode, and the summer schedule is starting to look like its strongest stretch yet.
The most recent change is stark: instead of waiting for established shows to continue, Apple TV has been rolling out brand new series—and viewers and critics have taken notice.
Widow’s Bay and Margo’s stand out among the year’s best-reviewed Apple originals. both landing a 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes.. My Brother the Minotaur has drawn fewer eyes from some who dismissed it as a kids’ show. but the reviews it has received are still strongly positive. including coverage from The New York Times.
With that momentum in place, Apple TV is now turning toward what’s next, pitching three additional new series over the next few weeks.
First up is Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed, which premieres Wednesday, May 20.. The series stars Tatiana Maslany and Jake Johnson, mixing thriller and comedy.. Apple’s pitch is that the story follows a newly divorced mom who falls into a spiral of blackmail and murder. with youth soccer woven into the mix—an early-buzz setup that’s already drawing attention.
Then, Star City arrives Friday, May 29.. Set in the For All Mankind universe. it’s a space race thriller viewed through an alt-history lens from the Soviet perspective.. Rhys Ifans stars. and Apple describes it as a “propulsive paranoid thriller. ” suggesting a faster. more urgent tone than its inspiration.
Apple’s June entry is Cape Fear, landing Friday, June 5.. The series is inspired by Martin Scorsese’s 1991 film of the same name and brings together some heavy Hollywood names. including Scorsese and Steven Spielberg.. Javier Bardem plays a convicted killer released from prison. who goes after the married attorneys responsible for putting him behind bars—Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson.
From already-acclaimed premieres to a rapidly filling release calendar, Apple TV’s summer slate is starting to take shape as a key test of its next wave of original storytelling.
