Anne Hathaway seized her pregnancy story online

After being photographed on the streets, Anne Hathaway decided to announce her pregnancies on her own terms—culminating in her third pregnancy video on Instagram on June 19.
Anne Hathaway remembers the moment she realized the internet would move faster than her—so she decided to move first.
In an exclusive interview with People in April. the Devil Wears Prada star talked about how she announced her last two pregnancies after being photographed out in the world. She explained that once strangers started taking pictures. it wasn’t really a matter of “if” people would know—it was a matter of when. “Basically. I saw someone was taking photos of me and I think at that point. people kind of knew I was pregnant. ” Hathaway told People. “I think there were some street shots where you’re just like. ‘Eh. just had a big meal.’ But I was just like. ‘Ok. this is going to happen now.’”.
Talking it through with her husband. Adam Shulman. Hathaway said the experience pushed her toward a new kind of control: a social media announcement that felt personal—something that came from her instead of being pulled from public images. “If it’s going to happen anyway. maybe I can put something out that feels more personal and that comes from me as opposed to it having to be this thing that happens outside of me. ” she said. “And so yeah. that was one of the first times that I ever realized that. I don’t know. I got to make the announcement myself. It was really, really cool.”.
That same instinct showed up clearly in her latest news. Hathaway. who already has two sons. Jonathan (10) and Jack (6). shared that she’s expecting a third child on June 19 via a heartwarming video clip on her Instagram account. In the video, she smiled, clutched her baby bump, and ran away. In the caption, she wrote “x Baby, I’m yours x,”.
For Hathaway, motherhood isn’t just something she does—it’s something she feels deeply. She previously shared that she knows not everyone who wants to be a mom gets the chance. “I know that not everybody who wants to be a mom gets to be, or a parent gets to be. And I’m just blown away by how fortunate I am. I just got emotional taking a look at that to realize that it went really well for me twice. And that’s really lucky.”.
In another conversation, an interview with WSJ Magazine, she said, “I didn’t feel fully landed and fully here until I was a mom.” She added, “It’s not like I was lacking integrity, but it made me want to be completely, on every level, true to my word.”
Now, with big projects keeping her busy and her third baby on the way, Hathaway’s decision to control her narrative online reads less like a viral moment and more like a private choice made in real time—one that helps her meet pregnancy on her own terms.
