Anne Hathaway Joins Tom Cruise in ‘Days of Thunder’ Sequel Movie, Release Date Announced! | Just Jared

Anne Hathaway has booked her next role!
On Saturday (August 29), the 43-year-old Oscar-winning actress announced that she will be starring opposite Tom Cruise in the Days of Thunder sequel!
The two announced the news in a fun Instagram video as the posed in front of a green and yellow race car that had “Days of Thunder Summer 2028” written across the side of it at the Dayton International Speedway.
After posing for a few moments, Tom asks Anne, “Now what?”
“‘Now what?’” Anne repeats. “Let’s make the movie!”
“I’m gonna have this baby and then we’re going to make this movie,” she clarifies as she touched her pregnant belly.
“That’s a good idea. You have the have this baby, and then we’re gonna go make the movie,” Tom says. “We’re coming out summer of 2028. Don’t be late!”

While plot details for the sequel are being kept under wraps, Variety revealed that Anne is set to place a race car team owner and engineer. Tom will be reprising his role as scrappy driver Cole Trickle.
In the original Days of Thunder movie, released almost 40 years ago in 1990, Trickle gets recruited to a new NASCAR team by a retired racing legend (Robert Duvall). The movie also starred Nicole Kidman, Randy Quaid, and John C. Reilly.
Jonathan Levine is confirmed to direct the sequel, which is being produced by Tom, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Tommy Harper.
The Days of Thunder sequel is scheduled to hit theaters on June 2, 2028.
