Anna Faris didn’t just show up to the Scary Movie premiere on June 3—she brought her son along.

Jack Pratt. 13. made a rare appearance at the event. stepping onto the red carpet as his mother dazzled in a black sequin halter-neck gown. Jack kept it sleek in a black suit with a white shirt underneath. The pair were joined by Faris’ husband, cinematographer Michael Barrett, and his children, Margot and Dashiell.

For Faris. it was also a visible snapshot of a family that has had to learn how to move through public life on its own terms. She and Chris Pratt now co-parent Jack, who was born in 2012. Faris and Pratt tied the knot in 2009, were married for eight years, then separated in 2017 and divorced in 2018.

Their lives have changed since then. Pratt married Katherine Schwarzenegger the following year, and they welcomed three children: Lyla in 2020, Eloise in 2022, and Ford in 2024. Faris married Michael Barrett in 2021.

Jack’s public visibility is complicated by the health story his parents have shared over time. Jack was born premature with serious health issues and spent the first few weeks of life in the NICU. In her 2017 memoir Unqualified. Faris wrote about the moment a pediatric neurosurgeon sat Chris and her down to explain what was happening. She detailed that Jack had severe brain bleeding and there was a chance he could be developmentally disabled.

Faris later expanded on Jack’s medical journey on her “Unqualified” podcast in early 2018. She said Jack had “a few surgeries,” including “a few hernia surgeries,” “a few eye surgeries,” and “a little heart issue as well.”

That earlier transparency later collided with another kind of scrutiny. In November 2021, Pratt shared a post praising Schwarzenegger on Instagram and included a remark that sparked backlash. The caption read in part: “She’s given me an amazing life. a gorgeous healthy daughter. she chews so loudly that sometimes i put in my ear buds to drown it out. but that’s love!”.

Many people on the internet criticized the comment. and one tweet from that time captured the concern plainly: “I love Chris Pratt. but the ‘healthy daughter’ part is made me wince. Although he may not have meant it as an insult, it sort of came off that way. Imagine how that will make his son feel, if he ever reads it?”.

The backlash eventually found its way back to Pratt directly. A year later, Pratt addressed it in an interview with Men’s Health. He said, “My son’s gonna read that one day. He’s nine. And it’s etched in digital stone. It really f****** bothered me, dude. I cried about it.”

He also made it clear that love—and gratitude—still sits at the center of the story. In August 2025, Pratt marked Jack’s 13th birthday with a collage of photos shared on his Instagram Stories. Over the collage, he wrote: “Jack, I can’t believe you are 13 today. I’ve watched you grow into such an incredible young man. and am truly proud of the person you are becoming.”.

Now, with Jack stepping out at a premiere for the first time in a way that feels noticeably rare, the family’s journey from early medical fear to public milestones is impossible to miss.
