Noise is the one thing earbuds can’t “hear away” — at least not without help. On Anker Day. the company introduced the first Soundcore earbuds built around its new Thus AI chip. rolling it into the Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro and Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro Max. The pitch is simple: make voices cut through the chaos, and do more of the work on the device itself.
Both models use the Thus chip alongside eight microphones and two bone conduction sensors. Anker says the chip’s system separates the user’s voice from background noise so calls come through clearly. and it’s designed to capture speech at lower volumes when you’re in “moderately quieter settings. ” thanks to the bone conduction sensors. The chip also powers voice commands. with 20 options for controls and tasks. and an announced response time of under a second.
That voice focus is matched by a noise-canceling engine. The Liberty 5 Pro and Liberty 5 Pro Max include Soundcore’s Adaptive ANC 4.0. which uses the same eight microphones to process audio data up to 384. 000 times per second. Anker says it continuously monitors external sound and anything entering the ear canal, adjusting ANC in real time. The company also claims its noise-canceling algorithm can handle a broad range of noises — including human voices — and that the ANC performance is up to 2x more effective than the Liberty 4 Pro.
Outside calls, Anker is keeping the “personalization” trend front and center. Both earbuds support HearID 5.0, which creates a personalized EQ based on a brief hearing test. With AI Sound Enhancement. the earbuds provide audio restoration aimed at recovering up to 65 percent of “the quality” lost to Bluetooth compression.
Battery life is also specified clearly: the Liberty 5 Pro and Liberty 5 Pro Max offer up to 6.5 hours of playback per charge with ANC enabled. and up to 28 hours total when using their charging cases. Multipoint Bluetooth is included, along with Bluetooth 6.1, Apple Find My, and Google Fast Pair compatibility. Both models carry an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance.
The two models split most noticeably at the case. The Liberty 5 Pro gets a 0.96-inch TFT touchscreen on the front edge. while the Liberty 5 Pro Max upgrades to a 1.78-inch AMOLED display. The Pro Max also includes an AI Note-Taker on the case. capable of generating transcripts in the Soundcore app. identifying speakers and action items after meetings. That note-taking capability isn’t available on the Liberty 5 Pro. Translation. however. is offered on both: the Liberty 5 Pro supports translation on the earbuds. while the Liberty 5 Pro Max supports translation on both the earbuds and the case.
The Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro is available starting today for $170, in black, blue, pink, and white. The Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro Max starts at $230, in black or gold.
