Andres Munoz hits major milestone as Mariners rebound from 22-0 loss

The Mariners bounced back quick from their disastrous 22-point loss at the hands of the Brewers thanks to Andres Munoz.
The Seattle Mariners immediately shed the memories of Tuesday’s infamous 22-0 disaster against the Milwaukee Brewers. All thanks to Andres Munoz hitting a new milestone on Wednesday evening.
The right-handed pitcher delivered his 100th save of his career, leading into the 7-5 win over the National League’s best team. The franchise revealed Munoz’s new place in team history.
“Muñoz joins Kazuhiro Sasaki (129 SV), Edwin Díaz (109) and J.J. Putz (101),” the Mariners posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.
Munoz then became reflective of his newest career accomplishment.
“It means a lot,” Munoz began postgame. “The trust they have in me, and all the things I’ve learned from everybody, it’s an awesome revelation. I love them for trusting me all the time.”

Munoz stepped onto the hill in the bottom of the ninth inning. He fired off a pair of four-seam fastballs to start his 100th save pursuit. Munoz eventually forced Jackson Churio into a fly out by firing an 86 miles per hour slider.
The veteran continued to trust his fastball facing Jake Bauers. One topped 100 mph, which arrived on his second pitch. Then he flipped to a changeup as both pitches topped 93 and 94 mph. He fanned Bauers on pitch No. 5, by turning back to the fastball.
William Contreras emerged as the final hope for Milwaukee to get anything going offensive one last time. Munoz threw an 87 mph slider at him. Contreras managed to pound the ball on the first try, but resulted in a final ground out to seal the Mariners win.
Seattle is now 60-67 overall and remains in third place of the American League West standings.
